The Centre for Management Studies, Orissa Engineering College, Jatni (CMS-OEC) is one of the premier institutions for the purpose of imparting quality management education in Odisha. The admission process at CMS-OEC is holistic to ensure that the most deserving candidates are selected for its MBA program. The admission process at CMS-OEC is based on national and state-level entrance examinations. CAT, MAT, XAT & OJEE scores are accepted by the institute to these four main entrance examinations. These exams are CAT (November every year), XAT (held normally in January), MAT (held on February, May, September, and December), and OJEE (generally held in May).

Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in any stream of study from an accredited university for admission to the MBA program offered at CMS-OEC. Those who are in their final year and expect to complete their degree before the commencement of the MBA course are also eligible to apply. The institute limits its intake to 23 students which makes the entire admission process concentrated thereby providing an excellent student-to-faculty ratio conducive for individual attention and growth.

Application Process

The application process for the MBA program at the Centre for Management Studies, Orissa Engineering College, Jatni involves the following steps:

1. Entrance Exam: Candidates are to take any one of the accepted entrance examinations-CAT, MAT, XAT, or OJEE. Since this will be a determinant of selection, success in the selection process will depend on the candidates' adequate preparation for the examination.

2. Application Submission: Candidates have to fill in the application form after acquiring their entrance exam score, directly at CMS-OEC. The application form is usually available online through the official CMS-OEC website (http://www.cms-oec.org/).

3. Document submission: Along with the application, contestants are required to submit the following documents:

  • Entrance examinations score card
  • Graduation degree certificate and mark sheets (for final year candidates, a provisional certificate is mandatory)
  • 10th and 12th standard mark sheets
  • Work experience certificate (if applicable)
  • Caste certificate (if applicable)
  • Recently taken passport-sized photographs

4. Application Fee: This may require some candidates to pay the application fee. This will be made known in the application form or on the institute's website.

5. Shortlisting Process: Depending on entrance exam scores and academic performance, shortlisted candidates will be called for subsequent rounds.

6. Final Selection: Final selection is on a composite score taking into account the candidate's performance in the entrance test, academic background and GD/PI/WAT rounds.

7. Admission Confirmation: Offer letters for admission are sent to selected candidates, who are required to confirm the admission offer by paying the requisite fees within the stipulated time.

Degree wise Admission Process

The flagship program of CMS-OEC is the Master of Business Administration (MBA). The program is a full-time course for two years and provides giving students theoretical and practical understanding of business and management skills, as well as leadership capabilities in a variety of industries. Admission to this MBA program takes place as follows:

  1. Either CAT, MAT, XAT, or OJEE needs to be attempted by the candidate.
  2. Once the candidate has a valid score, he/she needs to apply to CMS-OEC.
  3. The institute may conduct further rounds of selection which may include group discussions, personal interviews, or written ability tests.
  4. The final selection would depend on the candidate's score in the entrance test and performance in the subsequent selection rounds.

The MBA at CMS-OEC is planned on laying down of a firm base in core business concepts and opting for specializations on various career aspirations. The business experiences impart practical knowledge, which is an integral part of the course allowing for the creation of future-ready business leaders.
