Kunjali Marakkar School of Marine Engineering (KMSME) at Cochin University of Science and Technology, KMSME was set up in 2003 in Ernakulam, Kerala. This affiliated college, located in CUSAT complex, is especially devoted to providing marine engineering education. Pioneering a cause, KMSME has 11 committed teaching professionals to provide an exclusive B.Tech programme in Marine Engineering. Despite the fact that the school is comparatively small; it offers appropriate conditions for the students who plan to become marine engineers and face some difficulties in the maritime field.

Kunjali Marakkar School of Marine Engineering has state of art facilities provided to the students in order to make their learning process as more enriched as possible. The Kunjali Marakkar School of Marine Engineering offers a single, specialised course: a 4-year B.Tech full time course in Marine Engineering. This programme has an approved enrolment capacity of 80 students and fits well in the institutions goal of offering quality education in a specialised area. Its main aims are to develop adequate knowledge and skills that will enable the successful implementation of the individual’s professional activity in the sphere of maritime industry, based on a combination of academic content and operating experience.

The admission process of KMSME should be designed to ensure that anyone offered a chance to join the institution should possess a good character and the right qualities that will enable him or her do well in marine engineering. 

KMSME offers well equipped hostels for its student of both sexes to facilitate comfortable accommodation. These are well furnished rooms is used to accommodate three cadets whereby the issue of hygiene is highly observed,strictly observed. Other amenities include generous mess compartment, recreational, sick and prayer bay, therefore providing an integrated living-learning environment to the students. Another interesting facility on the campus is the open air theatre where different bustle of the students and other ceremonies involving the cadets is usually conducted hence the unity of the campus.
