The College of Engineering and Technology, Payyanur also known as CEAT Payyanur is an Engineering college established in the Year 2011. Situated in Kannur, Kerala this is an affiliated college which has achieved a unique position in the technical stream. CEAT Payyanur is located on a vast area of 16 acres and provides students multi-specialization in the field of engineering and architecture. AICTE and India Council of Architectural education approve the institute which gives the assurance of quality education. Total number of intakes of the college is 373 and faculty members are 35 therefore the ratio of the students to faculties is perfect for enhancing learning.
College of Engineering and Technology, Payyanur is well endowed with the contemporary facilities needed for it to accomplish its academics. The college library has over 5000 books with and reference section with thousand books of management, core subjects and related industry. The flexibility of the open-access system makes the students go round asking questions. To support the practical learning in the institute, modern laboratory facilities that address the need of all branches of engineering are available. These comprise survey laboratories, geotechnical engineering laboratories, environmental engineering laboratories, and state of art electrical electronics and communications engineering laboratories. The college also has a computer centre with fifty computing nodes connected via Local Area Network and a 2 Mbps leased line internet connectivity thus extending to the student the best in Computer applications and important resources.
In total, the institute provides eight courses within the degree programmes. These are six B.Tech offered under Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Data Science and Internet of Things and B.Arch. All the programmes offered are on a full time basis, B.Tech programmes take four years and B.Arch programme takes a period of five years. The total approved intake for these courses is 295 students annually, which enlightens the future engineers and architects.
The admission policy of the CEAT Payyanur is in compliance with the guidelines prescribed AICTE, APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University & the Govt. of Kerala. For B.Tech programmes 50 % of the seats are admitted through Centralized Admission and placement by the Commissioner for Entrance examinations. The last 35% of the seats are filled via Management Quota while 15% is available for those students who fall under NRI category. It has three modes of admissions depending on the students’ performance in the Kerala Engineering Architecture & Medical Examination (KEAME) or Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main). To be eligible to apply for the B.Arch programme, candidate must pass the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA). Applicants who wish to join this college must have the 12th standard education and must offer Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as core subjects. Considered one of the best engineering colleges in Kerala and situated at Kannur, The College of Engineering and Technology, Payyanur, having various undergraduate programs in Engineering and Architecture, follows a very rigorous admission procedure to bring forth the brightest and most deserving candidates.
Generally, the admission procedures at CEAT Payyanur begin from April to May for prospective students who are to be admitted in August or September; there are various programs under which admission forms may be filled in based on national entrance exams or state-level entrance examinations. B. Tech programs, on the merit of the students' performance in either JEE Main or KEAM, admit the selected students. Further, B.Arch aspirants must also qualify for and appear in present the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA).
The minimum eligibility for admission to bachelor programs requires 10+2 from any recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as mandatory subjects. Students wishing to apply for the B.Tech programs must qualify in the entrance test conducted by Commissioner of Entrance Examinations, Government of Kerala (KEAM) or JEE Main.
Application Process
For B.Tech:
1. Qualifying KEAM or JEE Main.
2. Register for the centralized allotment done by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Kerala.
3. For management quota-35 percent seats, apply directly to the college on the basis of PCM marks in the 12th standard and KEAM/JEE Main scores.
4. For NRI quota-15 percent seats, apply based on marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in the 12th standard.
For B.Arch:
1. Qualifying in the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA).
2. College application based on NATA score and required documents.
Degree-wise Admission process
B.Tech: CEAT Payyanur offers a B.Tech program under various branches such as Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and Electronics and Communication Engineering, Data Science, and Internet of Things, as well as Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. The admission process for the B.Tech programs is according to the rules set out by the AICTE, APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, and the Government of Kerala. Out of the total number of seats, 50% are allotted through centralized allotment by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations based on performance in either KEAM or JEE Main, while the remaining 50% is distributed into a 35% management quota and a 15% NRI quota.
B.Arch: CEAT Payyanur offers admission to 40 candidates for the B.Arch program on merit based upon scores obtained in the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA). The candidates who qualify NATA will be called for admission to the B.Arch course.
