The College of Fisheries, Agartala started from 1998 is another substantial constituent college of this university for providing fisheries education and research. This institute for co-education is situated at Lembucherra, Agartala, Tripura and its area is spread over 61.36 acre. Recognised by the Indian Council for Agricultural Research, the college has a full- fledge programme focus on fisheries science . Students at the College of Fisheries are privileged to access crop of superb facilities that give them the enabling environment towards achieving their academic and personal dreams. There are more than 6,850 books in the school’s library which is supplemented by 77 periodical subscriptions annually for use in study. The College of Fisheries provides a complete portfolio of fisheries courses for any level of education. It offers one bachelors programme (B.F.Sc), seven masters (M.F.Sc) specialising in what include Aquatic Animal Health, Fish Genetics and Breeding and fisheries resource management and two doctoral programmes (Ph.D) in Fisheries Science and Aquatic Animal and Health Management. These courses are meant to be keyed in as full time ones to allow full intervention and exposure out on real life experiences. The total number of student enrolment in all courses is 204 and the college prepares quality fisheries’ professionals to the labour market each year.
For the under graduate courses, the actual eligibility criteria depends the Common Entrance Test conducted by the various states. The admission for master’s programmes is more extensive with 60% weight age of the entrance test and 40 % weight age of the marks scored in the qualifying examination. The same procedure is applicable to admissions to a doctoral programme. The undergraduate programme of the college accepts CUET-UG score of the candidates. All candidates are advised to understand that the cut off mark with negative marking is 20% to qualify for the entrance examination for all categories of students.
