College of Teacher Education, Golaghat: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

College of Teacher Education, Jonaki Nagar, Golaghat was established in the year 1990 is one of the reputed teacher training college in the state of Assam. This co-educational institution is at present B. Ed under taken with the DIbrugarh University having the approval of NCTE of Government of India. The college spread over an area of 12.3553 acres and offering Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) program with a total intake capacity of hundred students. The Institute has 12 dedicated faculty members and student teacher ratio is quite good health, which aims at providing quality education to those who wants to become teachers. 

The college has a number of quality learning facilities aimed at improving learning of the students. The library as part of academic spending serves as storehouse of over 6,500 books i.e. textbooks references, journals, periodicals, encyclopaedas etc majoring in education. Undergraduate borrowers can borrow two books on a 15-day circulation period. The well-equipped Science Laboratory meets the pragmatic requirements of teacher-trainees, including apparatus for practical sessions in physics, chemistry, and biology at the secondary level. The college also does encourage use of technological equipment in learning with an ICT cum resource room fully outfitted with several system computers and many teaching aid materials. 

The above College of Teacher Education, Golaghat is currently running only one major course which is B.Ed. program. This course is delivered for two years as a full time course and its goal is to produce qualified teachers. It has an approved capacity for taking 100 students, which outdoor the qualifying nature of the institute in producing quality educators. The course lays emphasis on the general thrust of education perspective, Theories of education, approaches to and methods of teaching and management of classroom.

Like most colleges of Assam, admissions policies of the College of Teacher Education, Golaghat also rest heavily on in-service training for the government-deputed teachers recommended by the Government of Assam. After this process only, fresh candidates who have cleared the CET organized by the Dibrugarh University are given admission purely on merit basis. This way guarantees that both the practicing teachers and the new contenders for the positions can sharpen their skills and education. 

The college also has hostels for boys and girls separately with 2 four-seater rooms for girls and 2 four-seater rooms for boys to accommodate out station students. Accompanying academic facilities, the college offers a full range of opportunities for students’ personal growth. This facility affords an auditorium for occasions and seminars, sports amenities for exercises and an eating place too. The existence of guest rooms and waiting areas is a proof of the institute regarding the importance of coming over faculty and student family members.
