The College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Mannuthy, founded in 1955, is one of the first constituent colleges of the Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University. Situated in Thrissur, Kerala, this institute has been one of the premier destinations for veterinary education and research since 1954. Endorsed by the Indian Council for Agricultural Research, the college provides 50 courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in veterinary sciences and animal husbandry. The institution has 100 committed faculty members trained well to impart education to budding veterinarians and animal scientists.

Concerning academic programmes, the College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Mannuthy, has a wide existing course offering. Currently, the institution provides fifty courses or programmes in two levels of degrees in veterinary and animal sciences with different choices of specialities. The most renowned programme is the Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc. & A.H.), which is the essence of veterinary education. Postgraduate courses offered at the college include many M.V.Sc. programmes in specific areas of interest, such as animal biotechnology, veterinary public health, animal reproduction, and clinical veterinary medicine, among others. These programmes are with an intention to be completed full time, each being taught for about two to four years given the course level.

The admission process of this institution, that is, the College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Mannuthy, is competitive and pro-achievement. For the undergraduate B.V.Sc. & A.H. programme, admissions are done based on the rules and regulations of the Commissioner of Entrance Examination of Kerala (CEE) and the Veterinary Council of India (VCI). Such selection depends on the performance of the candidate in the National Eligibility and Entrance Test for Undergraduates (NEET-UG), administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA). For its postgraduate course, the college takes into consideration the students’ performance in the All India Entrance Examination for Admission (ICAR AIEEA). This serves to make sure that only the most qualified and passionate candidates get a chance of getting into this hallowed institution.
