The College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Jabalpur, was founded in 1948 and is one of the oldest veterinary colleges in India, delivering education and knowledge in veterinary science. This prestigious college is in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, and occupies a campus area of 162.3 acres. Total student strength is 102 and faculty strength is 69, which thus provides a niche for the aspiring veterinarians. The institution provides three degree programmes: offering opportunities in professional graduate degree in Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, namely B.V.Sc. and AH; postgraduate degree in Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, namely M.V.Sc. and AH; and doctorate in Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, for fulfilling graduation; postgraduate and doctorate courses in Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry.

This is the vision of the college to ensure that students get the necessary facilities they require in order to improve their performance as well as their personal development. There is a well-stocked library on the campus, which gives students an opportunity to access most of the veterinary literature and research works. Assignable space is available for a variety of diagnostic procedures, patient treatments, and practical learning in many areas of veterinary medicine. The college offers all-round development for the students, the facilities for games and an athletic field, and a gymnasium to enable the student to have a physical body check alongside the academic exercise. An auditorium can be used for academic activities such as functions, seminars, and cultural shows. The college also ensures the welfare of its students by providing hostels for the students with different sections for boys and girls to enhance there comfort. To ensure that it is in tandem with the current development in the technological field, the institution has well-developed IT facilities. Besides, an operational health centre with basic accommodations for first aid is also present on the school compound and supplies medical requirements of the students and members of staff.

There are three full-time courses preserved by the College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Jabalpur, for various levels of veterinary education. These include one undergraduate programme, namely B.V.Sc. and AH, one postgraduate programme, namely M.V.Sc. and AH, and that of a Doctor of Philosophy: Ph.D. in Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry. The college has remained very disciplined in the offering of veterinary education and training and has an accrued total enrolment of one hundred and two total students across all levels. Up-to-date information regarding the number of graduates is, however, lacking, but by the course college offerings, the college has a reputation of offering quality education in veterinary sciences.

Thus, the admission process for the College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Jabalpur, aims at enrolling the right candidates for the grant college’s veterinary programmes. For the B.V.Sc. and AH programmes, the candidate must have completed 17 years and must be below 25 years old by December 31st of the year of admission. There is competition in admission through the merit achieved in the entrance examination of the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board, Bhopal, or Veterinary Council of India. The college also takes into consideration the norm established by its Academic Council in relation to admissions. For admission under the NRI quota, the candidates are chosen based on the total marks in physics, chemistry, and biology—the marks obtained in their 12th or an equivalent examination from a foreign country. The college effectively follows even some of the policy standings or the reservation rules of the Madhya Pradesh Government in its admission policy. In its efforts to produce qualified veterinarians, the institution has put measures in place to ensure that only competent learners enrol in the various programmes being offered in the institution.
