College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Jabalpur Admission Process

One of the most acknowledged and respected veterinary colleges in India is the oldest college of veterinary science and animal husbandry in the country. Situated in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, the college provides comprehensive education to both undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels in veterinary science. Admission at this very prestigious institute is thereby designed to select only the most qualified and passionate candidates for veterinary programs.

The college grants merit-based admission, mainly on entrance examinations conducted by the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board, Bhopal, or the Veterinary Council of India. The admission period generally occurs along with the calendar year, and applications are usually invited months before the commencement of the session.

For undergraduate admissions, the candidates should have attained a minimum age of 17 years on or before the 31st December of the year of admission to the first year of the B.V.Sc. and A.H. course. The reservation rules of the Madhya Pradesh Government are followed to ensure the diversity and inclusion of a student body.

Eligibility criteria to get admission are completion of 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as mandatory subjects. Specific academic requirement, cut-off may vary from year to year with respect to the competition at the applicant's level and is decided by Academic Council of the university.

Application Process

For B.V.Sc and AH:

1. Candidates have to appear in entrance examinations conducted by the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board, Bhopal and Veterinary Council of India.
2. The candidates shortlisted for counseling are based on the Merit list of the entrance exam.
3. In counselling, candidates need to submit every document required, which needs to be verified.
4. The seats get allocated based on merit, category, and availability of seats.
5. The short-listed candidates need to pay the required fees and submit their admission forms within scheduled time.

M.V.Sc. and AH and Ph.D programs

1. Submit application online through official university website or its designated portal.
2. If required, appear for entrance tests as required.
3. Verification of documents then interview and / or presentation of research proposal, in case of applicants for PhD.
4. Merit list and seat allotment.
5. Fee remittance and Admission confirmation.

Degree Wise Admission Process

B.V.Sc and AH: The flagship undergraduate programme is B.V.Sc and AH. Admissions are made based on merit obtained in the entrance examination conducted by Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board, Bhopal or the Veterinary Council of India. The selection process is as prescribed by the Academic Council of the university.

M.V.Sc. and AH: The college offers postgraduate studies leading to a Master of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry degree. admission most probably would be on the basis of a graduation followed by a postgraduate entrance examination.

Ph.D. Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry: This college offers a PhD program in Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry for the doctoral level studies. For this higher qualification, admission procedures include evaluating a candidate's master's level performance and can request research proposals or interviews, besides other conditions.

Most of the common documents required would be:

  • 10th and 12th mark sheets and certificates
  • Entrance exam score card
  • Category certificate, if the candidate belongs to any category.
  • Domicile certificate
  • Character certificate issued from the last institute attended
  • Migration certificate, if already pursuing a degree elsewhere
  • Photocopies of recent passport-size photographs

The college also offers NRI quota admissions. For NRI candidates, the selection is done on the basis of merit or aggregate marks of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology obtained in the 12th or equivalent examination abroad, or as specified by the Academic Council of the university.
