The Department of Futures Studies in the University of Kerala, Trivandrum, is one of the kind started in 1990. This constituent college of the University of Kerala is situated in the culturally rich and facilities city of Thiruvananthapuram and has been offering unique learning for over three decades. The department approved from AICTE offers comprehensive course combination that facilitates the transplantation between technology, management and the future. Having a faculty strength of three, the department ensure that every student who attends the college receives individual attention. Today, the institution offers five distinctive degrees at both the postgraduate and doctoral levels – all pointing towards the institution’s focus and innovation in graduate education and research.
Students at the Department of Futures Studies enjoy the use of number of modern facilities which maker learning more convenient. The current collection includes over 3,500 books and 10 journals available in the college library to support research and learning resources. The department also has good IT facilities: modern and essential technologies needed by students are provided. The admission procedures at the Department of Futures Studies differ according to the programme. In the case of M.Tech in Technology Management Candidates are required to appear for the Graduate aptitude test in engineering abbreviated as GATE for getting admission to this programme. M.Phil programme consists of entrance test and the test contains Objective type questions. The entire process of selection is slightly more elaborate in the case of the Ph.D programme which involves an entrance examination conducted by the University of Kerala With this those who qualify for UGC/CSIR/GATE tests or who possess an M.Phil degree by research and thesis are exempted. The department also brings flexibility in terms of eligibility for SC/ST candidates and persons having teaching experience.

Degree wise Admission Process
M.Tech Technology Management: Admission to this program is based on the candidate's GATE score.

M.Phil Futures Studies: There are 10 seats for this program. Admission will be done through an entrance test consisting of objective-type questions.
Ph.D Futures Studies: The admission process for the doctoral programs is through an entrance examination that will be conducted by the University of Kerala.
