The Department of Pharmaceutical Technology of JIS University, Kolkata, started in the year 2016 and has been striving to bring out differences in the field of pharmaceutical education and research. The institution is located on 81 Nilgunj Road, Agarpara, Kolkata, providing various programs in pharmaceutical sciences. The said department is approved by the PCI and AICTE to ensure quality education in the field. The faculty in the department has a strength of 21.

The following are some of the facilities within the department to enhance the learning process of the students. The campus houses separate hostel facilities for boys and girls, adding another comfort level for a safe and conducive living space for community building and making the transition from home life into college life easier. The library is stocked with adequate facilities including thousands of books on different subjects. With smart classes and ICT-enabled lecture rooms, the campus aims to provide students with a technically enriched learning environment at the level of modern education. The department has well-maintained and properly equipped laboratories for practical training purposes and research. 

Courses offered at the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology span a wide range, including every level of pharmaceutical education. The institute provides 9 courses in total, including full-time undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Undergraduate courses include the 4-year Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharma) course, and the 2-year Diploma in Pharmacy (D. Pharma). At the postgraduate level, several sub-specialised M. Pharma programs are being offered by the department, two years in duration. These sub-specialised courses include M. Pharma in Pharmacology, Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, and Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance.

Admission to the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, JIS University considers the academic performance of the concerned subjects and scores obtained in pharmacy entrance examinations. The department probably follows a merit-based admission process, taking into consideration the performance of a candidate in qualifying examinations and entrance tests.
