The Desh Bhagat Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology were established in 2003 to foster the growth of this type of institution and are based in Mandi Gobindgarh in Punjab. This associated college is concerned with providing education in hospitality and has several courses to the potential and existing hotel and catering industry practitioner. The B.Sc. in Hospitality and Hotel Administration takes a three year programme while the diploma courses offered in Food Production, Food and Beverage Service, and Bakery and Confectionery take two years each. 

The admission procedure in Desh Bhagat Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology is in large extent centralised and entrance exam based. Concerning the B.Sc. Hospitality and Hotel Administration programme, entrance is carried out by the National Council for Hotel Management Joint Entrance Examination (NCHM JEE). It is one of the central standardised tests for admission to hotel management courses for students from across the country.
