District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) located in Karimganj, Assam, was set up in the year 1995 with an aim of imparting teacher training and academic support The District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Karimganj, aims to transform into a centre of excellence in teacher education and training. Located in the beautiful village of Surjadas this is Government affiliated college spread over an area of 3.306 acres of land. DIET Karimganj is a teacher education institution, categorical and engaged in offering two courses having a sanctioned strength of 300 students. It gets its recognition that making it one of the best institutes for providing teacher training programmes from the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). 

DIET Karimganj is equipped with numerous additional facilities since its main aim is to provide the best learning experience to its students. In addition to a good library; The institute has a big library with numerous types of books, Magazines, journals and newspapers. This resource centre has a very central role in providing support to both curriculum based and co-curriculum activities. To ensure consolidated learning, the college possesses departmental laboratories in which learners can practice in their areas of specialisation. 

Technological requirement is also given importance with having proper IT with facilities for the students to encompass the era of digital learning. In terms of academic offerings, DIET Karimganj focuses on two key teacher education programmes: the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) & Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed). Both these courses are regular programmes – each lasts two years, and there are 50 seats in each batch. This specialised focus experience enables the institute to allocate it resources and effort in producing qualified educators. 

Admission policy at DIET Karimganj is developed and justified in order to identify appropriate candidates for the institute’s teacher education programs. For the B.Ed course, the candidates are given ranks by the university as per their academic score cards and CAT score. The admission procedure to the D.El.Ed programme reservation also extends the same through with respect to the scoring of marks in the qualifying examination and/or an entrance test. As for seat reservations, both procedures are performed strictly in compliance with the norms established at the government level with regard to the seat allocation for all eligible candidates.
