Medical laboratory technology is a noble field in today's growing health care sector and to mark its significance Dr.M.V.Shetty College of Medical Laboratory Technology is situated at Mangalore and it was started in the year 1996. This affiliated college is situated at Vidyanagar, Kavoor, Mangalore and it covers a land of 3 acres of area. Some of the speciality programmes provided at the institute include programmes in medical laboratory technology at undergraduate and post graduate standards. The college offers a student enrolment of 184 students with the faculty of 12 numbers which forms a good learning ambience. It offers 4 courses spread across 2 degree levels; all of which are in various sub-specialities of Medical Laboratory Technology hence upholds the quality education provision.

At present Dr. M.V. Shetty College of Medical Laboratory Technology consists of full four Bachelors and Master degree courses in order to accommodate the students with different level of learning. The undergraduate programme consists of four years of study toward a B.Sc in Medical Lab Technology, the postgraduate programmes are three two-year M.Sc in Medical Laboratory Technology with options in Clinical Biochemistry, Microbiology and Immunology, and Haematology and Blood Transfusion. 

Initially, the Admission Committee of the Dr. M.V. Shetty College of Medical Laboratory consider the marks of the qualifying examination of the candidate as the criteria for admission into the College.
