Admissions for Fergusson College, Pune are open for the academic year 2025.
Fergusson is located in Pune also known as oxford of the east. The college is very beautiful and was established in 1890s, There are lot of facilities for students. College also has residential student accommodations. There are CCTV cameras all around the campus. If you are a sports enthusiast then you will be happy to know that Fergusson has 7 sports facilities. College also has canteens and mess. The classrooms are big and airy.
I studied BA course in Fergusson. My course curriculum was different from the curriculum which Pune university asks to follow to affiliated colleges. Even though Fergusson is also affiliated to Pune university, being an autonomous college, it has right to decide its own curriculum. The teachers are well experienced and teaching quality is good. There is no compulsory attendance so many people do not attend lectures.
I did not like placement cell of the college. It did not help much during the placement sessions. Many students including me had requested our principal to bring changes in the placement process. Average placement for BA graduate is below 5 LPA whereas for BSc graduate it goes up to 9LPA.
My course fees were very less as compared to my earlier school. I had to pay around 9000 per year for my course.
The campus is just amazing.
The college has best in class infrastructure and it really helps students to progress academically. The campus boasts well equipped laboratories with an ample supply of computers and other necessary equipment. There are separate boys and girls hostels, however the boys hostel block are too old and lacks many facilities like fan, cooking space and you can not eat anything in hostel which is very wrong. Rest of the things are excellent.
The college is famous for its exceptional academic programs, which have constantly delivered a high standard of education. I studied BA degree and completed my graduation in 2022. The college offers a wide range of courses across various disciplines. One aspect that sets Fergusson College apart is its emphasis on practical learning. The faculty members are knowledgeable, experienced, dedicated to their field. They employ innovative methods of teaching.
Placements are good but it could be better. The placements vary across the different subjects. For example Economics and Psychology students get better placements than students from history, geography and other language subjects. Average placement range is between 3-4 lakh per annum.
College has a big campus. It has a big library named after Wadia family. There are 2 big sports grounds in our campus. It also has facilities for indoor sports. The hostels are old and needs improvement. There is total 3 canteens on the campus, but one canteen is very unhygienic. The campus has Wi-Fi connectivity which can be accessed through your student's account.
I was in Fergusson college from 2019-2022, studies BA in economics. I chose to study in Fergusson College because it has the best faculty for humanities, also it has ranked among top 50 colleges in India. My course curriculum was quite impressive, it included different aspects of Indian and world economy.
Placements are average because the starting salary is between 2.5-3 lakh which is not that good in today's context. Also very few students get placements. There is a placement cell where you can register if you want to find different opportunities.
Fergusson is one of the oldest institutions in Pune city. The college has a big campus. There are separate buildings for most of the departments. The classrooms are equipped with digital tools. Campus has WIFI connectivity but it is limited to certain places in the campus. Our college has facilities for different sports like cricket, football, and some indoor sports like table tennis and badminton. The best thing is there is ample of space for students parking but it is paid service.
I studied BA economics at Fergusson and graduated in June 2022. Honestly speaking some faculties are inexperienced but the curriculum is so interesting that you will get to learn most of the things out of curiosity. You can even attend lectures in another division if your teacher is not teaching well. That is the best part I would say, because there are no restrictions on student's learning. Any student can attend any teachers lectures if he is interested in that particular subject.
Placements are Okayish I would say. It is okay because BA graduates do not get impressive placements in any college. Still the placement cell tries its best every year to attract as many placements as possible. You can also ask placement cell's support to get an internship with government or private think tanks. I was offered an entry level job with salary of 4LPA but I rejected it because I wanted to pursue my dream of Masters.
I paid total 30000 for the whole course. (duration- 3 years)
The campus gets very colorful during annual college fest which usually happens in the 1st week of January every year. Also you will find people from diverse background from every part of India. There are some seats reserved for foreign students as well.
Fergusson is one of the most famous colleges for humanities. The campus is located in deccan area of Pune city, Maharashtra. The campus is vast and has lot of academic buildings spread over an approximate area of 65+ acres. There are cement concrete roads in the campus, The classrooms are old but have modern tools required for teaching. There are 5 labs for different purposes and students' practical sessions. There is strict security on the campus. It also has 2 playgrounds and 3 canteens,
I studied BA psychology course at Fergusson College and my experience is very good when it comes to teacher and curriculum. Our teachers were very understanding and treated everyone same without giving preferential treatment. The curriculum had lot of application based courses which are helping me now in my PG studies. I can surely say that psychology curriculum will make you job ready as soon as you graduate from the college.
Placements are better if we compared to other BA courses in different subjects. Most of the students get entry level Human resource position after completing BA psychology. Placement cell arranges placement camps but you can also find jobs on your own because of the reputation of college you can grab some great opportunities if you make some efforts and pushed yourself. Also there is provision for mandatory internships for final year students pursuing BA psychology course.
The total fees for my course are little extra than other BA courses because we have psychology practicals. I paid around 18K per year that is approximately 55K for 3 years. BA in other subjects like economics, history, political science, sociology, geography etc. will cost you less than 10K per year or up to 5K if you avail scholarships.
Best college to study psychology in Pune.
The college has best infrastructure containing all the facilities like library, Canteens, sports grounds, recreation areas etc. The campus is spread across 66 acres at deccan. The construction of the campus can be traced back to 1890s still this campus had all the new generation facilities like smart boards, projectors, computer labs, digital library etc. The hostel needs upgradation because the hostel blocks are too old. Hostel does not even have Fans. Except hostels everything is perfect!
I completed my BA in psychology from Fergusson. I opted for Fergusson because it is a renowned institution all over India especially for psychology. The teachers are knowledgeable and experienced. The curriculum is curated by college academics committee itself so it is updated unlike college's who follows university designed curriculum. The lectures happen everyday and attendance is not compulsory for some lectures. We also had practicals particularly for my subject.
College needs to improve a lot in order to provide better placement opportunities to for students especially those enrolling for BA program at Fergusson. According to my knowledge very few students in my batch got placed through college placement cell. I could not find any better placement opportunity through college so I found job on my own. Don't expect much from college placements, you will just get around 3LPA if you are doing BA at Fergusson.
The fees are too affordable. I completed my whole degree in just 30,000. If you belong to reserved category then you can claim refunds of the fees upto 70% of the total amount through various schemes of state and central government.
I went to college everyday and my only motivation to go to college were my friends and the college campus. The campus is so beautiful you will not feel that you are in the middle of the city. It is so calm and green like a small village.
College is very beautiful. The classrooms labs libraries are in very good condition. But the hostels no so much. I remember in 1st year when i wanted to take the admission i was told to bring everything myself the bed the lights etc, like the basic things that a hostel should provide, when i talked to the girls living in hostel they suggested me to choose a hostel outside the campus for same reasons , and i would suggest the same as well. For food you have 3 canteens and all 3 of them are amzing
I pursued BA Economics as Fergusson college was a well redeemed college. I joined in 2019 and my 1st year was amazing the teaching as well as for the non academic part of it. But in 2nd year due to covid a lot of teachers left, and after that except for 1 or 2 teachers all of them were lazy and were not teaching the way they used to. This continued in the 3rd year as well.
In my 1st year i heard that some amazing companies came for placements for the 3rd year students, so naturally i expected the same in my 3rd year, but i dont know what happened but the placement cell was very unresponsive and the internship/job that came they were mostly of HR and other psychology major related. The offers we got were of sales and marketing mostly, and some were of RnD. I did not want to go in any of these, but those who did got placed very well.
The basic infrastructure is pretty good and well maintained. All though the classes and the benches in the old 'historic' buildings have been the same since 1990's and could do with some renovation. Even the hostel needs a complete makeover as it is the same as it was back in 1990's. The library is well maintained and was one of my favorite places on campus.
I graduated with a Bachelor in Arts with a specialization in economics. The curriculum is pretty up to date but it could do with some practical knowledge. As for if the course makes me job ready? For some entry level job, yes. The quality of teaching is good.
Placements were very few as the demand for bachelors (Arts) fresh out of college is minimal. The highest salary package was 4-5 LPA. Not the best but not bad either. The process itself was fairly simple and the college was supportive.
I have never seen such a mesmerizing campus than Fergusson college campus. The college has vintage touch with modern facilities. There are gardens on the campus. Students usually spend more time in canteens than classes because canteen has very delicious food. You will find dustbins in each and every corner of the campus. Campus also has a big library with thousands of books. There are some hangout and recreational spaces as well.
I studied BA (Psychology majors) at FC. I finished my graduation in 2022. I chose FC because of the reputation of its psychology department all over Maharashtra. The faculty is very intelligent and supportive in your personal problems as well. The teachers are so friendly and approachable, they are always ready to help you. The curriculum is very interesting, and it also includes topics like field visits and compulsory internships.
Scope of placements for my department is much better than other departments. Our department gets better placements every year. The average package is between the range of 3.5-4L. Students mostly go for higher studies rather than placements, but some choose to work as well. I was hired as an HR executive by a famous company, and I will work there for some time and after 2 years I am going to pursue higher studies.
Best college, The ROI is much better than most of its competitors.
campus life is just amazing. Better than any other colleges in Pune. Everyone is friendly and there is lot of diversity as well.
Best college in Pune
The college has an exceptional infrastructure, featuring an attractive campus with colonial architecture and impeccably clean living spaces. Every classroom is equipped with smart boards and the library building is well maintained and it also has fee access to Wi-Fi and a computer lab with more than 50 computers.
I studied BA economics at Fergusson college. The academics are quite good because you get to choose your course in two languages- Marathi and English. All the teachers are well qualified with few exceptions as well. The faculty members are highly supportive. Overall, the academic experience and curriculum, coupled with extra curricular activities, contribute to a well rounded educational journey.
To be honest, people in my divisions got no placements because we were a Marathi division and companies mostly prefer candidates from English medium divisions. We did not even get a chance for appearing inn placements because of the language barrier. English medium gets few placements every year with a descent package but Marathi medium division hardly gets ant placement through college. The administration needs to improve this situation and should not discriminate with students.
The fees are very affordable. As low as 3-4K per year with various scholarships. But some courses like computer science and environmental sciences, biotechnology can go upto 40K per year because they comes under self financed courses. BA courses are quite affordable for anyone.
Campus life is amazing. No college in Pune can match the vibes of our campus.
Hello there,
Fergusson college, Pune is done with the admission process for the session 2024-25, and has started classes of first year from the month of July. Fergusson college releases maximum three merit list by which students who have scored equal to or above the cutoff for various category has to be present at the time of in-campus document verification.
