Admissions for Fergusson College, Pune are open for the academic year 2025.
The infrastructure is outstanding. Anyone can fall in love with the architecture of the college. There are separate washrooms for boys and girls in each corner of the campus. Almost all the buildings in the campus are wheelchair accessible. The classrooms are big. College also has facility of playgrounds for different sports and cafeterias with delicious food menu.
I studied BA in economics and graduated in 2021 from Fergusson college. I chose Fergusson because it was ranked in top 20 colleges all over India in 2019 NIRF rankings. curriculum is better than most of the colleges in Pune because college has eminent scholars for setting up the curriculum and they edit it every academic year as required. The faculties are quite experienced and well qualified. Some faculties have got national level awards.
Placements are not that great but if you try your best then you can get good a placement. I had appeared for the placements but could not qualify the criteria. 9 out of 40 of my batchmates got placed in different firms with packages ranging from 2.5 LPA - 4.5 LPA which is a descent amount of money for a BA graduate. Highest package offered in my batch was 5.2 LPA. We had a WhatsApp group for placements where we used to get each and every update. All this was done virtually because of COVID-19.
The campus is remarkably expensive in terms of size and offers a wide array of facilities. These include fully equipped labs, playground, gymnasium, tennis court, basketball court and a spacious library filled with numerous books that meet the syllabus needs and cover a diverse range of subjects. Also the classrooms are spacious and gives harry potter vibes as it is a 125+ years old institution.
I am doing my masters in psychology The teaching quality at this institution is good because of our qualified faculty members. The curriculum is regularly updated to meet current needs, incorporating many practical subjects as well. What we study in the classrooms makes us job ready.
The placements are average. My seniors were placed in few firms with an average package of 4LPA after completing their masters in clinical as well as industrial psychology. College needs to improve the administration of placement cell to create more opportunities for students.
The college needs to update it with recent equipments and technology. It has traditional blackboards and projectors aren’t in a working condition. This hampers the learning methods for students and other creative options in teaching.
It was good academic wise. Grant section has the best teachers. I was in non grant section hence I didn’t have a very good faculty. Most of the teachers had little or no experience of teaching which was a drawback.
I didn’t have placement opportunity per se because I was a bachelors student. However, from what I’ve heard is that the placement opportunities are minimal and not great which leaves students to look for their own.
College infra has been renovated recently and looking very fine. Plus it has become art of the sate kind of institution having such a great historical significance and being a heritage site makes it unique.
Academics are great with wide and very diverse curriculum covering all the aspects a graduate must have. Teaching staff is also very good and helpful. Overall we can say good quality of education is definitely provided.
Placements are decent enough not to great or not to low, we can expect a basic pay package here like 5-8 LPA but extraordinary things might happen too. But seeing the education quality there’s always an upside in terms of career.
My course was roughly 15-13k per year, thus very cost efficient as compared to other colleges in Pune. Definitely can say have got worth of my money here and have experienced the best of my college life.
College campus is very attractive and well maintained plus being a heritage site adds the historical angle and makes it rare plus unique. Campus is entirely handicap friendly, plus wifi enabled and having good green lush.
It's a beautiful college with well maintained infrastructure. All the labs are equipped with sufficient amount of laboratory equipments. Classes are well maintained and spacious. Most of the classes have digital screen for teaching.
Curriculum is well designed and well taught in college. Teachers are really nice. You learn alot throughout your college life. Everything that is taught in theory classes is well explained in practical classes too.
Placement rate is high. Even though my course didn't have any placements but other courses are provided with good placements and get selected in big companies. Teachers also help students during placements by guiding them well.
Yes the infrastructure is very good. The campus is huge and beautiful, filled with Greenery. All the amenities are on point. Library is huge and up to date. It's very good over all. The canteens are also good
I have studied BA economics from it. The faculty, special ones are very good. Classes are a mix of old and new methods. With Current evaluation done by quizzes and tests and assignments. Teachers are good.
I have studied BA economics from it. . Placements are average but opportunity is there, specially for students of economics and science. Placement cell is active, work is going on. Many students in our batch got placed.
Since it comes under a government University, the fees is nominal, for the quality of education. The fees varies from branch to branch and course to course, but it is very low, as compared to private universities.
It stands in the heart of Pune, FC ROAD. There are ample clubs, events and functions arranged on campus. Yearly fests are organised and the vibe of the place is very good. It's a lively campus. You will enjoy
The college does have basic facilities like drinking water, toilets but doesn't have smart boards in all classrooms, doesn't provide Wi-Fi for students. The living spaces are clean and hygienic and the canteen food also seems to be well maintained.
I did my graduation in fergusson college. I studied bachelor of arts and did economics major. The teachers were mostly good and some of them had vast knowledge about the subject. The syllabus for economics department is mostly at par with other universities but still lacks behind in some cases. For example, in most of the universities a quantitative/maths paper in economics is compulsory for a semester but here the quantitative paper was optional.
The syllabus and the faculty is good but the placements cell is not as effective as it should be. The placement cell is loosely organized. The information for placements is not easily available and the packages that are offered are not that satisfactory.
College infrastructure is about 125+ years old and its architecture is Victorian. It has big classrooms accommodating around 150 students in each classroom. There are many seminar halls and laboratories in the campus. The campus also has a beautiful botanical garden where you can find different species of plants.
If you attend regular lectures, then it's good for you or else you will be lost like most of the students the curriculum is little different from other colleges under SPPU. Most of the teachers are good but some lack experience. Being an autonomous institution, the college has right to develop its own curriculum and need not to follow the same old boring curriculum of Pune university.
college offers average placements. I personally have bad experience about the placements. I had appeared for few placements, faced many difficulties in the whole process because college's placement cell does not coordinate effectively with the students.
The fees are not too high. Even people from rural backgrounds can afford to study on their own. Just you will have to pay extra if you are opting for hostel. I completed my 3 years of Bachelor of Psychology within 45,000. There are some courses which even cost around 7,000 per year. It is very affordable if you choose for Grant in aid section. Fees for Non grant (self-financed) section is double of grant section for the same course.
I have never been to such an amazing campus before. there are more than 5000 students studying in the campus. people around nearby areas even come for morning and evening walks in the campus. You will find lot of dogs on the campus, and they are very friendly.
The college is like a 2nd home to almost every student who is not from Pune. You will never get bored of coming to college. It is so much fun.
During last one year college has upgraded all the existing infrastructure like roads, Gardens, lamp poles, etc. Everything is better than before. All the classrooms are now equipped with digital boards and projectors. There are 3 canteens on the campus. There is a big playground and one basketball and and badminton court. There is one tennsi court as well but it is not for students. The vintage buildings are main attraction of the campus.
College needs to improve the hiring process of the teachers because for Noon grant divisions, college hires professors without any previous experience. Some teachers are good but most of the teachers are inexperienced and are hired for only short term. Many students like me have to study from YouTube because teachers do not teach that well. And most of the students do not attend the lectures because of poor teaching methods.
Being a third year students we do have a placement cell but there is a question on its credibility because I have never heard of any senior getting placed in a good company with good package. There is minimal placement support, They just send you links for applying for placement, other things needs to be figured out on our own. Teachers do not provide any guidance for preparation for placements. The average package is in between 3-4LPA which is quite low as compared to colleges like symbiosis.
My fees for 3 years is approximately around 30K that is approximately 10K per year, which is pretty affordable. Private colleges charge around 80K for the same course which is very high. You also get many scholarships of both state and central governments according to your caste. Fees are affordable for everyone and you do not have to pay it one time, you will need to pay the total fees in three installments.
Everything is good apart from the placements and some teachers. College has many clubs which encourages students to take part in extracurricular activities. During the annual fest every department has its own event and it is so much fun to be part of this mega event. One more thing office works takes more than usual time to get completed because of the office staff's laziness.
The campus is historic. Many famous personalities and freedom fighters are alumni of the college, for example Vinayak damodar savarkar. The college's amphitheater was inaugurated after its renovation by Narendra Modi. Many famous personalities in different fields visits college for guest lectures.
The college campus is sprawling and well maintained, providing a serene and peaceful atmosphere for learning. the buildings are a blend of architectural beauty and functionality. The classroom are spacious, well lit and equipped with modern teaching aids such as projectors and smart boards. There are 3 boys hostels and 2 girls hostel in the campus accommodating around 600 students. It also has 6 science labs. Wifi connectivity is available in some parts of the campus.
I am studying at FC, solely because of its reputation all over Maharashtra and the opportunities that this college has to offer apart from academics. The teachers are not qualified and experienced. The college even hires teachers on clock hour basis on 1 year contractual basis, at many times these new teachers are very inexperienced and are not aware how to teach effectively. Old teachers are quite attentive to students and help students whenever they need. Curriculum is pretty much updated.
Placements are one of the worst part about this college because this college does not offer any technical courses which are high in demand. very few students gets placed every year through college placement cell. Rest of the students either go to pursue higher education or get a job on their own. Average package is around 3LPA for BA students and 5 LPA for BSc students. College is not that much supportive when it comes to placements.
The best thing about the college is its fee structure. Being a government aided college the fees are quite affordable for students and the opportunities you get with this amount of money is definitely better than any other colleges in Pune. Average fess for BA program is 8,000 Per annum (15000 for Non grant divisions). BSc program fees varies in the range of 10K per annum to 40K per annum as per your course. All the fee details are available on the website
Another thing why many people want to come here is its campus of around 70 acres in the heart of the city. The campus is declared as a heritage site by university grants commission. Campus is very beautiful and there are lot of clubs and extra curricular activities conducted throughout the year. The college campus is so safe that even a toddler can roam freely alone. There are lot of human friendly dogs on the campus, also there are variety of trees planted all across the campus.
This college is best for those people who are looking beyond the studies. If you want to experience diversity, competition, campus life, hostel life then I would definitely recommend you to take admission in Fergusson. But if you are looking for better placements and best faculties, then this college would not be a good fit for you.
Hello there,
Fergusson college, Pune is done with the admission process for the session 2024-25, and has started classes of first year from the month of July. Fergusson college releases maximum three merit list by which students who have scored equal to or above the cutoff for various category has to be present at the time of in-campus document verification.
