Government College for Girls, Patiala (GCG Patiala) is one of the oldest women's colleges of Punjabi University, Patiala. It is a recognized institution under NAAC and follows merit-based admission in all its programs. It provides deserving candidates with an opportunity to pursue their preferred programs by purely merit-based admission.

The criterion for admissions to the GCG Patiala is primarily based on the eligible candidates' marks from their qualifying examinations. It has a completely open system of selection to allow eligible candidates to apply to any programs they want.

Eligibility varies from one program to another. For example, for undergraduate courses, one must have completed 10+2 from a recognized board. For eligibility criteria for the postgraduate programs, a bachelor's degree in the relevant discipline is required.

Application Process

Government College for Girls, Patiala follows these general steps for applying to the institution for courses:

1. Announcements of Admissions: The college announces its admission process dates on its official website as well as local newspapers.

2. Application Forms: The candidates must fill up application forms for the required course. The application form is available online on the college website or in the college admission office.

Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) self-finance: The admission process of BCA is done completely on a merit list. The course has an approved intake of 50 seats.

Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) Programs:

These programs are all merit list admissions derived from qualifying examination scores.  Bachelor of Arts (BA): The admission process for BA programs is also merit-based and refers to marks obtained from the 10+2 examination.

2. M.Sc Food and Nutrition The admissions will be on the basis of merit list with an approved intake of 40 students for M.Sc Information Technology.

Master of Arts (MA):

6. MA Fine Arts The admission process is merit-based for all MA programs based on marks obtained in the relevant bachelor's degree.

Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Applications (PGDCA) Self Finance: Admission is based on a merit list prepared from the qualifying examination scores.
