Government College for Girls Patiala (GCG Patiala) was established in 1941 , situated at Patiala, Punjab. It is women’s college established in 1932 on a 25 acre campus and has been a symbol of education for more than eight decades. Affiliated to Punjabi University, Patiala and accredited by NAAC, GCG Patiala aims to delivers a bouquet of course streams. Currently, the college have a student enrolment of 1,977 and faculty ladies and gentlemens of 22 which makes it conducive for learning. Currently GCG Patiala has 8 degree which includes 17 courses in arts, sciences, commerce streams.

Government College for Girls possesses a portfolio of special facilities which aim to facilitate the improvement of the educational process. There is a large girls’ hostel to house about 400 students; the hostels are comfortable and secure. With thousand of books, journals, and magazines, college library provides the students with tremendous academic assistance. Modern equipped labs facilitate hands-on learning in a number of fields. The campus has also a gym, play fields and a hall for performing art or drama for extra curricula activities. A canteen & health centre with first-aid facilities provide for the maintainence of the student’s health. Modern learning is technology based, a fact that is well understood by the management of the college through a state of the art IT and computer block.

GCG Patiala has a vast range of full time courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Currently, the college offers seventeen courses, and some of them are BCA, B.Sc. Biotechnology, Home Science, Medical, BA, B.Com, and Masters in various faculties of Arts, Fine Arts, English, History and Psychology. The postgraduate courses offered are M.Sc. in Food and Nutrition, M.Sc. in Information Technology and PGDCA courses. 

The admission process in this Government College for Girls Patiala is mostly through the marks scored by the student. Candidates who would wish to join the institution through enrolment are selected based on their performances in the exam used in qualification. To this end, the college has an open selection process for admission to afford all the deserving candidates a chance to follow through their preferred courses.
