GCWK Kumbakonam is a well-known autonomous organisation established College in the Year of 1963. This women’s college is in Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu with 14.15 acres area of land and NAAC accredited college. The school has a total enrolment of 4,517 student and 32 faculty members and has 52 courses in 8 programmes. GCWK has numerous service amenities to complement the experience of the students. Equipped girls’ hostel provide home to 238 students, offering a cheap accommodation and decent meal. In as per to physical fitness GCWK have gym with modern facilities and an indoor hall for auditorium. Apart from the book, The central library has 42000 books and e-resources are also available there. There are places for games such as volley ball, hockey and basket ball for the enthusiasts in sports games. The IT infrastructure comprises of well equipped computerised laboratory with internet connection. Other facilities are canteen, Wi-Fi facility in the seminar hall, and Pick up van from the bus stand.
GCWK provides a number of academic programmes to its students. The college offers fifty two programmes which include full time undergraduate and post graduate degrees and doctoral programmes-BA History, BA Economics, B.Sc Chemistry and B.Sc Chemistry Tamil Medium etc. Undergraduate programmes take three years to complete while postgraduate courses take two academic years.

Government College for Women, Kumbakonam (GCWK) has autonomy as a highly ranked institution providing a myriad of undergraduate and postgraduate courses for women. B.Com.: Admission is based on the marks obtained in 10+2, generally in the subjects related to commerce. There are regular and second shift options available.
M.A.: There are programs at the master's level in Tamil, English, Economics, and History. Admission is made through marks from the respective bachelor's degree.
M.Sc.: This offers an M.Sc. in Geography, Computer Science, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, and Zoology. Admission is based on merit with regards to performance within the bachelor's degree.
M.Com.: Admission to the M.Com. program is based on the marks obtained in B.Com. or equivalent degree.
Ph.D.: GCWK offers postgraduate courses under almost all disciplines, including Tamil, English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Commerce, Zoology, History, Computer Science, and Economics. No my college don't have all the necessary infrastructure, facilities, and equipment. Needs More improvement in classroom facilities. Library and labaratories should be improved. No the living places are not clean
