Established in 1982 the Government College of Nursing, Kozhikode is an imperative symbol of nursing education in Kerala, India. It is a completely affiliated college having INC approved for providing relevant and approved nursing courses for the aspiring healthcare professionals. The college has 32 faculty members including talented and committed educators to foster the students in their particular field of interest. The institution offers 7 courses across 3 degree levels which are Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Diploma with the aim of offering a broad education in nursing.

It offers 7 full-time courses, such as undergraduate or postgraduate, and diploma programmes. At undergraduate level, the Bachelor of Science in Nursing, B. Sc Nursing is a four year course for 100 students per year offering a sound base in nursing science. It also has General Nursing Midwifery (GNM) diploma course admitting a total of 30 students. For directors who want unparalleled specialisation, the college offers five M.Sc Nursing programmes, with 6 spaces each for Medical Surgical Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Pediatric Nursing, Ob-Gyne Nursing, and Psychiatric Nursing. Such a diverse course offering makes sure that the students have fully been afforded the right chance in achieving their unique speciality in the nursing field.
The admission process in the Government College of Nursing, Kozhikode aims selecting appropriate students to join the college and the various programs offered in the college. For the B.Sc Nursing course, which is the most popular course for 100 seats, as required, the seats are reserved for candidates who have passed their 10+2 exams with physics, chemistry, biology as vocational subjects. The M.Sc Nursing programmes, of which each has 06 seats, B.Sc Nursing or its equivalent qualification is generally required. GNM programmes the total number of seat is thirty usually the candidates those who have completed their 10+2 education are given preference.

Application Process
The admission process for the Government College of Nursing, Kozhikode, is different for different programs:
For B.Sc Nursing:
1. Those who have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology are eligible to apply.
2. Application forms are usually available on the college website or may be procured from the college office.
3. Filled-up application forms along with required documents like mark sheets of 10+2 exams, date of birth proof, and other desired certificates must be submitted.
4. Selection is done on the merit list drawn from marks obtained in 10+2 exams.
For M.Sc Nursing courses:
1. Candidates holding a B.Sc Nursing degree or equivalent degree are eligible to apply.
2. Application forms can be downloaded from the college website or obtained from the college office.
3. Totally filled-in application forms must accompany all the prescribed documents, viz., B.Sc Nursing degree certificate, mark sheets, and experience certificates wherever necessary.
4. The selection might be based on a combination of merit in studies and an entrance test or interview.
For GNM course:
1. Graduates who have passed 10+2 courses are eligible.
2. The application forms must be procured from the college or downloaded from the website of the college.
3. Completed applications are to be sent along with 10+2 mark sheets and other documents as required.
4. The choice is generally on the basis of merit of 10+2 marks.
Degree wise Admission Process
B.Sc Nursing: Four-year undergraduate course with an annual admission of 100 students. Admission is made on the basis of the candidate's performance in the 10+2 examinations with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology being compulsory subjects. The course gives a well-rounded background in nursing science.
M.Sc Nursing: Five specialized M.Sc Nursing courses with 6 seats each:
1. M.Sc Medical Surgical Nursing
2. M.Sc Community Health Nursing
3. M.Sc Pediatric Nursing
4. M.Sc Obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing
5. M.Sc Psychiatric Nursing
To be eligible to apply for these postgraduate programs, candidates are required to complete their B.Sc Nursing or a similar qualification.
GNM (General Nursing Midwifery): It is a diploma program with 30 students' intake. Admission would normally be given to candidates completing their 10+2 course. The curriculum is aimed at imparting practical nursing skills as well as training in midwifery.
