Government Degree College, Annantnag, was set up in 1950 and is one of the renowned schools located in Khanabal, Anantnag J&K. It’s affiliated college recognised by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), having 32.61 acres of land area. With 5,852 students and 76 faculties, the college provides 32 courses under 10 degree programmes. Of the student population, 92% is male and 8% is female at the undergraduate level, and post graduate level has 70% male and 30% female students. At present, the courses offered by the Government Degree College, Anantnag, are vast enough from various fields. Presently the institute offers 32 courses of undergraduate and postgraduate levels for students. The undergraduate programmes are familiar courses like B.Com, BCA, BBA, B.Sc in different fields of study, and various BA honours to choose from. For postgraduate studies, the college provides masters in computer applications or MCA programme. All courses offered are full time courses and this is in line with the institutes provision of intensive training programmes.
