Government Degree College for Women, Kathua Facilities Details: Hostel, Campus, Infrastructure, Library, Canteen

The college bus is spacious and can accommodate many passengers at a time. One can avail this bus from remote areas as well if it comes within the specified transference radius, otherwise, transporters can come to a common point for easy pick up and drop in. At all levels, it is ensured that the punctuality of the vehicle is maintained. Besides, public transport is another option to reach the campus as well.

There are six laboratories in the college viz Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Computer Application and Geography. All the laboratories are well furnished with 24*7 power backup and water connection. The Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, and Geography labs are well equipped with a portable projector for demonstration of practicals. The botany and computer lab. are fully equipped with an Interactive board and projector for presentations. All the labs have sufficient infrastructure to carry out practicals and can accommodate 32-35 students. To ensure the safety of students, fire extinguishers have been installed.

The College Computer Lab is well equipped with an Interactive Board, a fixed projector, two air conditioners, and 32 number of computers with Wi-Fi and LAN facility with 24*7 power backup.

The college has a Wi-Fi facility for the students and staff.

The College library has been set up with all the requisite facilities: furnished seating arrangement for students and staff, Photostat, and Wi-Fi facility. There are 10542 books (Ten thousand five hundred forty-two) available in the library. The college library is under the process of full automation and it is likely to be completed soon. The College Library is being partially automated using the Integrated Library Management System (ILMS): e-Granthalaya in 2020.

The College canteen is one of the most happening places on the campus.

The college canteen is one of the most happening places on campus. Every college has its canteen big or small. Our college canteen is situated in one corner of the college. It is housed in a very big room consisting of one pantry and there is also a proper cleanliness area in the same room. The canteen contractor is a very fine person. He has two assistants (preferably women assistants) to help him in the canteen. He doesn’t sell stale articles. The rate list of articles is always displayed on the notice board. Some instructive posters are also hung on the wall. A lot of chairs and tables are here. Students take tea in their allotted place while the teacher asks them to go and sit in their specified place. The principal takes around the canteen once or twice a week. Student often discuss topics of their text over a cup of tea. Generally, students come to the college canteen to get food. But some others also pass the time by gossiping. Our college canteen sells cold drinks, juices, samosas, patties, tea, coffee, snacks, candies, etc. Welcome, and farewell parties are arranged around the year in the canteen. Students drown their classmate's worries in a cup of tea for some time. They go back fresh to the classroom. A college canteen is a part and parcel of college life. It is beneficial for the students.

The college dispensary is equipped with necessary first aid facilities.

Apart from academics, the college is also excelling in sports. The NCC and NSS cells of the college have been recognized at the National level by the performance of their cadets and volunteers. The college students have also been making their mark in the “Display Your Talent” competition organized by the University of Jammu. Ms. Diksha Andotra of B.Part III got the Vice Chancellor’s commendation certificate for a special 120 hours of NSS followed by Ms Reshm in the session 2016-17.

The girls' common room is a place where the student sits in their free time. It has been designed to stimulate interest among students, promote awareness of the college's activities, and provide a support network for female students.

The college has club Facilities for all students.
