GDC Sopore: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

Government Degree College, Sopore (GDC Sopore) is a premier college of our country situated in Sopore, Jammu and Kashmir. This is a co-educational college which was established in the year 1951 and having educational excellence for more than seventy years. Locating on 14 acres of land, the college provides a favourable setting for activities and learning at the GDC Sopore. It is part of the University of Kashmir and has maintained high standards of education by recently earning accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Since it is currently offering its education to 5451 students in total and has a total of 76 faculty members, GDC Sopore offers a wide range of undergraduate courses in two major fields of studies.

The college and career library is one of the many stores of knowledge and wisdom, containing books, journals and magazines. It currently takes subscriptions of 11 newspapers and 54 Magazine/Journals on multilateral topics. The library is in the process of complete automation with the help of SOUL System, by the help of which students can search digital catalogs easily. The college also has well-equipped laboratories for practical within and without the various courses another factor that makes the college special. This means to cope up with the modern world GDC Sopore has well equipped in IT sector a computer lab with broadband connection. Extra facility available to the college for extracurricular activities and programmes include a vast auditorium. There are also other services like cafe, health service, gym, and recreational facilities for students to use, such as football field, basketball, tennis and volleyball fields. The campus is readily fitted with internet services which makes it easy for the students to access internet for academics. Also, the college offers transport facilities; and there are ATM facilities available in the college campus.

GDC Sopore possesses a complete programme portfolio in different disciplines across the undergraduate level. The college currently provides four full-time degree courses: These include ; Bachelor of Science (B.Sc), Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com), Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and Bachelor of Arts(BA). Each programme aims to provide the learner with the necessary depth and skills set in a subject area of her/ his choosing.
