Government Engineering College, Buxar, also known as GEC Buxar, is a relatively new institution. This co-educational institute-affiliated college was established in 2019 and received approval from All India Council for Technical Education, AICTE. It is located in Buxar, Bihar. The present faculty strength is 5, with an enrolment  of 164 student. 

The institute provides various facilities for students to support life on campus. There are separate hostels for boys and girls so as to provide students who hail from various parts of the country with a good living environment. A well-stocked library acts as a knowledge resource centre. Wi-Fi connectivity across the college campus ensures that students never lose their connect with the digital world. Department-based laboratories form a part of the infrastructural facilities in GEC Buxar for hands-on learning. The institution has also taken care of the health-related issues of its students by making a health center available with first-aid facilities. Sports facilities and a gym are also provided by the college to ensure that the students work out to maintain a healthy balance between studies and recreation. Other facilities provided include an auditorium for functions and seminars, a cafeteria to help refresh oneself, and easy access to banks and ATMs.

GEC Buxar offers four full-time B.Tech courses, each for four years. Courses include Civil Engineering, B.Tech Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and B.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering. Each course has an approved intake of 60 students, totaling a capacity of 240 in all programs. Being an emerging institution, the college has surged ahead with a mission and goals to equip students with quality technical education in an effort to meet the ever-increasing demand for competent engineers in various sectors.

Government Engineering College, Buxar has simplified the admission process and structured it in an easily approachable form. In general, most of the engineering colleges in Bihar consider entrance exams conducted at the state level or national level for B.Tech admission.
