The institute has two wings of the hostel. At present Two Wings have 27 residential rooms for the accommodation of 51 students (pg-03 and ug-48) Along with beds, tables, chairs, fans, coolers, and wardrobes. A mess facility is available to the students. A telephone facility is provided to the students.
The institute has a chamber to provide medical services to students and staff. A part-time doctor and a nurse volunteer their services to meet medical emergencies.

Hello Nandita, To be eligible for PhD Food Technology, a candidate must complete MSc or MTech in Food Technology or Food Science and Technology with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks. The candidates will be selected on the basis of entrance exam scores. The admission to PhD Food Technology is mainly entrance based.

No, In general, you can't take admission directly as a second year student. You have to take a fresh admission as a first year student and complete it to be eligible to study as a second year.
The one year which you have wasted (or might have learned something new) will be considered as the gap year and not as the first year of the proceeding course.
