Government Polytechnic College, Melul was set up in the year 2010 at Ambalakaranparithi, Melul in Tamil Nadu. This affiliated college recognised by AICTE provides various diploma courses in different branches of Engineering. The college admits a total of 716 students and has a faculty of 4 and has adequate facilities to give a specialised differential education to the aspiring engineers. Currently, the institution has four diploma courses through which it students an interest in engineering disciplines, and these include:

The Government Polytechnic College include number of alleged facilities which can complement the education process of the college students. Each facet of the campus has functional laboratories for each department to enable practical learning. At present, the Government Polytechnic College, Melur offers four different full-time diploma programmes in Mechanical, Civil etc each of three years’ duration. Total student intake per course is sixty and the number of students offered all the different courses is two hundred and forty. This controlled intake is good because it ensure every enrolled student receives attention and quality education.
