Government Polytechnic for Women, Palamaner, which is a constituent college in Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh was established in the year 1985. The women's college gained the approval of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The institute provides diploma courses mainly in various fields of engineering. Spread over an enormous 8.6-acre campus, the polytechnic enrolls a total of 593 students. The institute has a faculty strength of 19. Four diploma courses offered by the institute cater to the technical education of only female students in different engineering fields.

The other feature that is significant is the on-campus girls' hostel formed of two blocks named Godavari and Krishnaveni ensuring safe and comfortable stay. Government Polytechnic for Women, Palamaner offers four full-time diploma courses which last for three years. The total intake all under taken courses is 240 seats, and 60 seats in every program will be offered. The courses include Diploma in Civil Engineering, Diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Diploma in Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Diploma in Commercial and Computer Practice Engineering. These courses give students the new vision of their specific areas of engineering and continue preparing them for successful careers in the engineering sector. 

The admission process is strictly on the basis of merit gained in the Common Entrance Test (POLYCET). This type of common entrance ensures fair and competition-based selection among the aspirants. The polytechnic strictly adheres to the time line for admissions specified by the state authorities, and usually it admits the students once in a year. The POLYCET Exam date and subsequent admission procedures may be watched with great care by the aspirants.
