The Government Polytechnic, Jammalamadu, was started in 2008 and it affiliated college located in YSR District Of Andhra Pradesh. This is a diploma awarding institution in technical education certified by AICTE in Manipal. With an aggregate land area of 1.472 Acres, total intake capacity of the polytechnic is 306 and it has 19 faculty members. The institute offers two diploma courses in Mechanical Engineering and Electrical and Electronics Engineering with the total intake of 60. Government Polytechnic, Jammalamadugu has a vision to impart technical education standards and make students to become successful engineers in the world. 

The institute has many facilities that can in one way or another enhance the students’ experience within the institute. A library is an important learning resource in the campus; it provides books and reference works to support student learning. Male students especially have the privilege of the boys’ hostel where the intended beneficiaries will be offered comfortable accommodation where necessary. 

This focus comes with the grooming of two full-time diploma programs offered at Government Polytechnic, Jammalamadugu. The Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and Diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering programmes both take three years –enabling graduates to have a sound backgrounded in their discipline. The capacity for these programs through approval for intakes is 120 students per year and a course size of 60 students. This helps in maintaining student–faculty ratio; and enables students receive special attention in the learning process.

Government Polytechnic, Jammalamadugu admission procedure includes majorly the POLYCET examination conducted in Andhra Pradesh. This exam, like all others, is sat once in a year to determine those who have the disposition for the polytechnic system of learning. Aspiring students are also needed to write the AP POLYCET exam and obtain a qualifying rank to join the college. The institute adopts the process of counseling conducted by the state authorities for the purpose of allocation of seats. Though the schedule of admission may differ each year, the advised candidates should know the date of the AP POLYCET Examination which is usually released in the first few months of the year.
