Admissions to all the government / aided / private polytechnics of the state, which are under the control of the Technical Education Department, take place through an entrance exam. For admission online procedure is applicable and through the Joint Entrance Examination, the facility of spot counselling is also made available. Joint Entrance Examination Council, Uttar Pradesh (JEECUP) conducts exams for admission into Polytechnic colleges(both government & private) of UP every year and any student who has passed their 10th board exam or its equivalent can sit for it.
Registrations for JEECUP open in March and are available till the first week of June. Eligible students have to first register on the official website, which is Jeecup.admissions.nic.in. They then have to fill out an application form and pay the application fees. The application fee is ₹300 for general and OBC category candidates and ₹200 for SC/ST applicants.
The admit card is released in June month itself students have to take a printout of the same while appearing for the entrance exam.
The entrance is usually held in July.
The JEECUP score will determine eligibility for admissions into Affiliated colleges of UP Polytechnic
The students will be able to check the result on the official website The cut-off list will also be made available to the students. The candidate may expect the result in August.
After the results are declared the counselling process will begin according to the marks scored in the examination. The candidates will be offered seats in the college based on their scores.
The counselling round will be conducted in 5 rounds. The students will have to submit ₹250 to participate in the counselling.
After counselling and seat allocation the student will have to submit ₹3000 to lock the seat.
The admission will be done following the reservations for different categories of candidates, General/OBC/SC/ST.
Students will have to visit the official centres for verification of documents.
After verification, the candidate will be officially admitted into the college.
The college offers admission to 10 diploma level courses. Government Polytechnic Lucknow admissions are offered for two years. Students applying for the courses should meet the eligibility criteria of the course.

The diploma students are eligible to apply for the B. Tech. programme in the same specializations that they have chosen in their diploma programme under lateral entry choice.
Students who have pursued a 3-year diploma after class 12 board exams are also eligible for admission to the BTech course through lateral entry.
