Government Polytechnic, Poonch: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

Government Polytechnic Poonch, was established in the year 2012 situated in the beautiful town of Poonch Jammu and Kashmir and it is affiliated college. This technical institution which is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) provides diploma courses in numerous fields of engineering. Located in the ITI Hostel Building, Mohalla Power House, Allapir, Haveli, Old City, it has become very important institution responsible for technical education in the region. They provide a competitive learning environment with a student population of 20 students and a capacity of a 5 member strong faculty at Government Polytechnic, Poonch.

This institute aims at teaching its students quality education and the necessary skills that are so essential in the marketplace. In compliance with this mission, Government Polytechnic, Poonch provides basic services to complement the learning process. College has a library which is well equipped, this makes the students achieve more knowledge than just being taught by the tutors. Furthermore it consists of departmental laboratories enabling the student to practically apply concepts learnt in class and or impose dynamism in their studies. Dr. Thampatty and his team have understood that having modern technology in college is paramount to preparing the students for various careers thus has developed a very good IT department which provides all the technology that is required by students in their academic work.

Government Polytechnic, Poonch today offers only three full time diploma courses of three years duration in all. Intake of students for all the courses offered at the institute has a total approval of 150 seats. The intake capacity for each of the Diploma in Electrical Engineering and Diploma in Electronics and Communication Engineering is 60 students and Diploma in Civil Engineering program for 30 students’ intake respectively. These selection of programs formed a clear objective of preparing the students to full fill the requirements of their respective engineering disciplines.

The admission process followed for selecting deserving candidates in Government Polytechnic, Poonch so that they may develop potential in field of engineering. Those willing to pursue any of the Three Year Diploma programs must sit and pass the Board of Professional Entrance Examination (BOPEE) test. This competitive examination plays a major function that allows only competent persons to get an entry to this institute. 

The admission requirements are fair, free, and affirmative giving any student a chance to be selected based on merit. Although details of the scholarship are not available, the fee structure is very pocket friendly and affordable charging 6,090 rupees per program allowing a lot of students to attain the best technological education. Infact, as Government Polytechnic, Poonch continues to impart its services for the next level, it always aims to bring the student into technologically creative, responsive, inventive and innovative technicians to meet the technological requirements of the region and beyond.
