About Government Polytechnic, Tumkur
Government Polytechnic Tumkur (GPT Tumkur) inaugurated in the year 1962 is approved by AICTE and functions under the Department of Technical Education (DTE), Government of Karnataka. Courses at Government Polytechnic Tumkur include diploma in engineering courses in six streams namely automobile engineering, computer science engineering, civil engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, electronics and communication engineering, and mechanical engineering.
Each of these branches has an intake of 60 seats for regular admissions. 10% of the seats (36 seats in total) are meant for lateral admissions into the third semester. Government Polytechnic Tumkur admissions are done based on online non-interactive counselling as per the guidelines issued by DTE Karnataka. While 50% of the seats are reserved for various groups in society, the other 50% of the seats are filled on the basis of merit in the qualifying exam. Aspiring candidates must ensure they fulfil the Government Polytechnic Tumkur eligibility criteria before applying to the institute. Government Polytechnic Tumkur facilities include smart classrooms, well-equipped laboratories and a library. GPT Tumkur also has NCC and NSS activities for students who are interested in enrolling for them.
