Government Post Graduate College, Ranikhet, (GPGC Ranikhet) an eminent institution in Almora, Uttarakhand, presents a wide array of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, the college has witnessed a history of about 50 years and has been rendering quality education. In the Government Post Graduate College admission process, it aims to select deserving candidates in its diverse academic programmes in arts, science, and commerce. In GPGC Ranikhet, admission is generally based on merit depending on candidates' scores in their qualifying examinations.
Government Post Graduate College, Ranikhet admission cycle starts in most cases sometime in August-September. For most undergraduate programmes, the least qualification is the completion of 10+2 from a recognised board. The intake for BA programmes is 480 seats. Admission to the programmes is going to be given on merit of qualifying examination (10+2).
The college runs B.Sc programmes like, B.Sc Chemistry, B.Sc Botany, B.Sc Zoology, B.Sc Mathematics, and B.Sc Physics. The seats available for B.Sc programmes are 320. Admission takes into account merit based on marks in 10+2 examination in science subjects.
B.Com programme offered at GPGC Ranikhet is with an intake of 160 seats. Admission is based on merit of qualifying examination (10+2 with Commerce or equivalent).
The MA Programmes offered by the college are, MA Geography, MA History, MA Political Science, MA Sociology, MA Economics, MA English, MA Hindi, and MA Music. MA Programmes have an intake of 60 seats each through selection by merit in the qualifying Bachelor Degree in the relevant subject.
GPGC Ranikhet runs programmes of M.Sc, such as, M.Sc Botany, M.Sc Zoology, M.Sc Mathematics, M.Sc Chemistry, and M.Sc Physics. Intake varies from 10 to 20 per course. Admission on the basis of merit in the qualifying Bachelor's degree in the relevant Science Subject.
The M.Com programme at the college has an intake of 60 seats. Admission is meritorious and will be based on B.Com or equivalent degree.
B.Ed Self Finance programme has an intake of 50 seats. Admission is based on the merit of the qualifying examination and/or entrance examination, as per the policy framed by the state government and the university.
