Guru Gobind Singh College for Women was founded in 1973 and is one of the prime institutions in Sector 26 of Chandigarh. This all-women's institution, affiliated with Panjab University at Chandigarh, has received accreditation by NAAC. GGSCW, spread across an area of 11 acres, offers diversified undergraduate and postgraduate programs to 1,969 students. The college has a strength of 27 faculty members.
The college boasts of its high-quality infrastructure, which enriches the educational experience of its students. It has well-equipped laboratories in the campus, including a Psychology Lab with all types of psychological tests and tools, and an English Language Lab equipped with the latest technology for developing language skills. Degree wise Admission Process
BA Programs: GGSCW offers BA programs with different specializations, including English, Psychology, Economics, and Sociology. The admission to the BA programs is purely merit-based according to the marks obtained in the 10+2 examination. For BA, there is an overall intake of 450 slots.
B.Com & B.Com (Hons): The B.Com programs are also run under a completely merit-based system. The college also offers 280 seats for the B.Com programs, including B.Com (Hons).
B.Sc Non-Medical and B.Sc Computer Science: For admission in B.Sc., GGSCW holds a centralized admission process on the basis of merit. The intake is 80 combined for B.Sc Non-Medical and B.Sc Computer Science.
BCA: Admission for the course BCA is purely merit based, which offers 40 seats.
MA Programs: GGSCW has MA programs in English, Sociology, and Economics. The admissions are on a merit basis with reference to the relevant bachelor's degree marks. Each program has 60 seats.
M.Sc Information Technology: Admission into the M.Sc (IT) based on merit with an allocation of 40 seats for the program.
M.Com: Admission in the M.Com course is also merit based with an intake of 40 seats.
College infrastructure is good and all the facilities are available. Library, sports centers and hostels are in good condition and food is also hygienic and pocket friendly. Class rooms and washroom are also in good condition .
College is fully furnished. Having wi-fi facility in whole campus. A big library and a gym too. A clean and healthy canteen, without any junk food. Neat and clean classes and washrooms. A hostel for girls.
Infrastructure need to be improved. Buildings must be improved. Classes must be more clean . There must be a large auditorium. The space and infrastructure need to be modified according to the present needs.
