Haldia Government College, established in the year 1988, is an affiliated college located in Purba Medinipur, West Bengal. This institution has a vast campus area of 19.44 acres and offers varied undergraduate and postgraduate courses. In this institution, 1,489 total students are enrolled with a total strength of 54 faculty members engaged to avail the availability of 15 different courses against 5 degrees. Also, the composition of the student body includes 95% undergraduate and 5% postgraduate students with a gender distribution of 44% male and 56% female students. Also, the college has accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council.

Haldia Government College has several facilities to enable and enrich its students with knowledge and to develop their personalities. In the area of sports, there are two playgrounds on the campus, volleyball, and badminton courts, and a nine-point multi-gymnasium. It also provides separate hostels both for boys and girls with a capacity of 100 beds each. Well-maintained laboratories are also available for hands-on practical experiences. 

Haldia Government College has a diversified academic curriculum. It provides 15 courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. There are many BA and B.Sc. courses available at the undergraduate level, while at the graduate level, M.Sc courses in Chemistry and Geography are offered.    

The admission process into Haldia Government College is mainly merit-based. In the case of Honours, course merit point is computed by adding 10% of aggregate marks obtained in the best five subjects excluding Environmental Studies, at Higher Secondary or any equivalent examination. Applications are invited by the college for different undergraduate and postgraduate courses having specific intake capacity for each course.
