Himachal Institute of Pharmacy Sirmour was started in 2008 it is affiliated college located in Paonta Sahib of Himachal Pradesh state. This PCI approved institute provides various pharmacy programmes on its 2.5 acre campus. The number strength of the institute is 279 students and the teacher educator ratio available here is 33 thus delivering a concentrated environment. It provides four focused subjects in overall three tiers of education i.e., B.Pharma, M.Pharma and D.Phra, the college prepares students for different dimensions of pharmaceutical training. The mere fact that the association aims at quality education in pharmacy is enough to make it stand as an ideal department for those who wish to study pharmacy in the region.
Himachal Institute of Pharmacy has various nice amenities that are as a result of the modern development and are capable of making the student learning environment exciting. The college has separate and well furnished hostels for both boys and girls with round the clock electricity and water supply, TV and reading room facilities etc. A modern library accommodates more than 5000 books, therefore, it provides both silent reading and discussion areas. The college is equipped with well stocked laboratories and there exists departmental laboratories such as Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacognosy and Pharmacology. Internet connection for the students in the computer centre, hygienically prepared meals in the cafeteria and some instramural facilities for both outdoor and indoor games hamper further the students’. In an effort to meet the various career related needs, Himachal Institute of Pharmacy provides a holistic package of the pharmacy courses. The institute offers four regular programmes: the undergraduate programme in B.Pharma, two postgraduate programmes in M.Pharma in Pharmaceutics and M.Pharma in Pharmacology, and diploma course in D.Pharma. It has an intake capacity out of 141 students as per various courses offered in the institute to provide individual attention to the students. The aggregate number of seats for admissions in the B.Pharma and D.Pharma is 120 and the M.Pharma programmes are 15 and 6 for Pharmaceutics and Pharmacology respectively.

HPCET conducted marks were considered for admission to the B.Pharma programme of the Bangalore University. Students aspiring to be part of M.Pharma classes are offered admission based on their GPAT scores which are valid. The institute also considers those students for postgraduate courses who have scored well in the HPCET. Perhaps the most common of these tests are those that are written and taken at the beginning of the academic year where they are offered; the results and guidance counseling being done shortly thereafter.
