Himachal Institute of Pharmacy, Sirmour, is a well-known pharmacy college situated in Paonta Sahib, Himachal Pradesh. Himachal Institute of Pharmacy admission process is designed to choose eligible candidates for its different pharmacy courses.
The institute uses scores of various entrance tests for admission to the programs. In the case of B.Pharma admissions, the Himachal Pradesh Common Entrance Test (HPCET) scores are taken into account. The HPCET test is usually held in May, with the next exam scheduled for May 9, 2025. For admissions to M.Pharma programs, valid Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) scores are used.
Eligibility conditions are different for each program. For B.Pharma, the applicant should have done 10+2 with Mathematics or Biology as one of the subjects along with Physics and Chemistry. For M.Pharma programs, a recognized university degree in B.Pharma is needed. The institute imparts four concentrated subjects through three levels of study: B.Pharma, M.Pharma, and D.Pharma.
Application Process
The application process for Himachal Institute of Pharmacy, Sirmour, is different for different programs:
For B.Pharma:
1. Take the HPCET test, usually conducted in the month of May.
2. See the website or admission portal of the institute for the advertisement of applications.
3. Complete the application form with all personal and academic information.
4. Complete the application form and submit it along with requested documents and application fee.
5. Await the merit list on the basis of HPCET marks.
6. In case shortlisted, continue with the admission and counseling procedure according to the guidelines of the institute.
For M.Pharma courses (Pharmaceutics and Pharmacology):
1. Give the GPAT exam and achieve a valid score.
2. Look out for M.Pharma admission notifications on the website of the institute.
3. Submit the application form for the desired specialisation.
4. Provide the application form along with GPAT score card and other supporting documents.
5. For M.Pharma Pharmacology, in case of vacant seats after GPAT admissions, HPCET scores can be taken into consideration, then B.Pharmacy merit.
Degree wise Admission Process
B.Pharma: Meritorious HPCET scores are the basis for admission into B.Pharma. There is an approved strength of 60 seats for the program. Candidates who have appeared for HPCET and have met the required eligibility can apply for admission.
M.Pharma Pharmaceutics: This program has an approved intake of 15 seats. The admission is mainly on the basis of valid GPAT scores. Students with a B.Pharma degree and a valid GPAT score are eligible for application.
M.Pharma Pharmacology: The institute provides 6 seats for this specialty. The procedure of admission is as follows:
1. Priority will be given to the candidates with valid GPAT scores.
2. If candidate seats are not filled, the remaining seats are allocated on the basis of HPCET merit.
3. The remaining seats are then allotted on the basis of merit of the B.Pharmacy degree from a recognized university.
D.Pharma: The institute also provides a Diploma in Pharmacy course with an approved intake of 60 seats.
