But college provides good infrastructure facilities to students including gym, swimming pool, libraries, infirmary, etc. Average fee of college is around 3.5-4 lakhs per year including hostel. As you have not mentioned if he has given JEE mains or not so i am giving the answer based on boards marks.
DU - Doesn't offer engineering courses
Thapar-He can get Electronics or Computer engineering if he is from Punjab.Else he might get Mechanical Engineering with other state quota.It has 30% Boards quota and 70% JEE main quota.
Jaypee-It has 50-50 quota for JEE main and Boards respectively.He can get core branches there.

Mostly every college having own criteria with cut-off marks will vary as per college .If we going through LMNIT then it will between 1450-150 minimum marks required but is based on the last year cut-off. but if we go trough every college then it will not constant .

see the cutoff score changes year to year and it depends on various factors like number of participants, questions difficulty level, seat matrix etc. the basic eligibility criteria is . at this score you have decent chances for jappee cse department. The candidate must have a pass in the 10+2 or its equivalent exam with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects and either of the mentioned subjects, Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, and Computer Science as optional subjects with 60% marks in 10+2 course.
