Jogesh Chandra Chaudhuri Law College is among those premier law colleges across Kolkata, West Bengal. Since the year 1970, it was established. The college, as approved by the Bar Council of India, provides special legal education to lawyers-to-be. Jogesh Chandra Chaudhuri Law College, Kolkata, a premier law institution offers specialized legal education in approved programs of Bar Council of India. The college has a process of admission based on merit for its various programs of law courses. For undergraduate programs in law, the college-affiliated admission process is mainly through the University of Calcutta, which administers all admissions. Admissions to this undergraduate program, especially for the BA LLB course, are on the basis of an aptitude test held by the University of Calcutta. The test form is called Calcutta University Law Entrance Test (CULET) which is the main instrument for selecting law seekers. For BA LLB and BA LLB (Honours) programs:
1. As the first step, the candidate applies for Calcutta University Law Entrance Test (CULET) through the official site of the University of Calcutta.
2. After qualifying the CULET, the candidate has to participate in the counseling conducted by the University.
3. Based on the CULET merit and counseling, students get allotted seats in different colleges; one of which is Jogesh Chandra Chaudhuri Law College.
4. After allotment, the candidates must report to the college for verifying documents and completing the admissions process.

For LLM program:
1. Application will be direct through University of Calcutta's website for the LLM admission test.
2. Post qualifier in the admission test shortlisted candidates may be called for further rounds of selection, if any, as per the discretion of the university.

Admission Process in accordance with the Degrees
BA LLB (5 year integrated course): The admission to the 5-year integrated BA LLB program is on the basis of the Calcutta University Law Entrance Test (CULET). Any candidate who has passed his or her Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalent examination is eligible to apply. Admission will be made purely on the score obtained by the candidate in the CULET. The program is available at the college with a sanctioned intake and provides a holistic foundation in both study areas, arts, and law.
BA LLB (Honours): The admission procedure for the BA LLB (Honours) course is somewhat different. Admission into the Honours course is in the 6th semester. The merit list for this program is made on the basis of two criteria; marks obtained in the Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) and the cumulative performance during 1st to 5th semester BA LLB examinations. For this special honors program, the intake is approved for 30 seats.
LLM (Master of Laws): The admission to the 2-year full-time LLM course at Jogesh Chandra Chaudhuri Law College is through a test conducted directly by the University of Calcutta. This postgraduate degree courses students who have completed their LLB program and want to study further in specific areas of law. The selection process ensures that all candidates selected have a good grounding in legal studies before entry into this high-level program.
College infrastructure can be best described as "average" at the moment , definitely not at par with the spacious classrooms and lush green campus of the other universities of Kolkata as well as India ,such as, Amity University,NUJS Kolkata, Bhawanipur Society College,etc.The building of Jogesh Chandra College has an old "Calcutta charm" and often conjures up nostalgic memories of the Victorian era "Calcutta".
