Jogesh Chandra Chaudhuri Law College is among those premier law colleges across Kolkata, West Bengal. Since the year 1970, it was established. The college has a small campus area, 0.7 acres found at 30, Prince Anwar Shah Road, Tollygunge. The college, as approved by the Bar Council of India, provides special legal education to lawyers-to-be. The college offers two undergraduate full-time courses: BA LLB (Hons) and BA LLB; the duration for both is five years. For advanced legal education, the college provides a two-year full-time LLM program. The approved intake of seats for the BA LLB (Hons) course is 30, which itself speaks to the commitment of the institution in maintaining quality education through smaller class sizes.
The admission procedure into Jogesh Chandra Chaudhuri Law College varies from one course to another. The cases of admission to the BA LLB course are governed by an aptitude test conducted by the University of Calcutta. For this, the candidate shall have passed the Higher Secondary or any other equivalent examination. Admission to the BA LLB course is peculiar in that students are directly admitted to the Honours program in the 6th semester. The merit list is selected based on marks in Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) and 1st to 5th semester BA LLB examinations. However, in the case of the LLM course, admission is made on the basis of an admission test conducted by the University of Calcutta.
