KB Women's College, Hazaribagh: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

Introduced in 1963, KB Women’s College is a women’s education center regarded as one of the best in Jharkhand. The constituent college of Vinoba Bhave University is accredited by the NAAC with a B ++ grade. The college is located and spans over 10.2 acres covering 6,486 students taking 29 courses under 9 degree programs. KB Women’s College has faculty strength of 27 which offer various under graduate and post graduate courses in arts science and commerce departments. The institute has all female student enrollment; the students= 92% are from the state while 8% are from other states showing the increasing role of the institute in the region.

Attached is a list of services offered in the college to cater for the students needs in their education endeavours. The campus has spacious and well equipped laboratory facility for Science and Art stream separately having advanced ComputerisedNumericData(CND) departmental lab. A library facility provides students and staff with reading room and borrowing services to support the educational and information developments. The college also offers Information Technology infrastructure with the internet connection of computer laboratories. For students’ convenience, it has a cafeteria, a parking area and a multi-gym. The seminar hall is used to accommodate all students’ activities and seminars as well as co-curricular activities. CND department also provides services of medical facilities and first-aid services are also available. Various infrastructures promoting extramural activities include facilities for chess, carrom, table tennis, and badminton.

More than fifty courses are currently taught at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels at KB Women’s College. The institute offers 29 courses of full time courses in arts, Science Commerce, Vocational courses etc. In the undergraduate level, one can opt for an ordinary bachelor degree, an honors bachelor degree, a bachelor of science, a bachelor science honors, a bachelor of commerce, a bachelor of financial development and a bachelor of computer application. MA and PGD are available as postgraduate courses. The college has an intake of 6,486 students per year and the college is gradually producing its graduates. Regarding the number of seats for each course the college does provide, still many of the courses do convey their seat numbers unknown, for instance MA English for 60 seat numbers and MA History for 60, MA Hindi also for 60 seat numbers likewise BFD,BCA AND BCS FOR 50 SEAT NUMBERS each.

KB Women’s College students admission criteria includes Merit, whereby consideration will be given to the marks scored in the previous years examination. For the undergraduate, the admission criteria require the applicant to have passed the 10+2 or equivalent examination. The following entry qualifications apply on each programme: Postgraduate – holders of a relevant bachelors’ degree. Consequently, the college adopts the academic calendar of Vinoba Bhave University for admissions procedures. Although definite exam dates are not given, the college could follow the university admission and entrance exam dates. Though information in this regard is scarce, the scholarships offered by the KB Women’s College are offered to those students, who are deserving – both on merit as well as the economically backward ones. The institute has been churning out many successful alumni who have done well in different career fields thereby enhancing the image of the institute as a quality women’s institution in the region.
