Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi Regional Institute of Mental Health, Tezpur Admission 2025: Dates, Registration, Fees, Eligibility

It's an autonomous and prestigious institute set up for mental health education and research, Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi Regional Institute of Mental Health (LGBRIMH), Tezpur, the prestigious institute boasts varied programs with courses in disciplines spread across the board in mental health. Fraught with a very rigorous procedure of building competent candidates for its courses, admission processes are roadmaps made purposeful. Typically, admission begins in LGBRIMH for a certain academic period commencing in August-September. It boasts 12 courses across 5 degree programs, which include Diploma, Master's, M.Phil, Doctoral, and Post-Doctoral levels. 

The procedures vary according to which program the particular course falls into, with some courses specific for admission through national-level competition examinations, while other courses of admission take their own route within the institute. Almost all postgraduate programs consider relevant work experience as part of the eligibility requirements set by LGBRIMH. In addition, there is the flagship course of the MD Psychiatry, increasing competition for which the filling up of seats would occur through the NEET-PG exam established by the NMC.

Application Process

The applicant would follow the procedure for admission consideration as it differs according to the programs of study at LGBRIMH:

Degree wise Admission Process

M.Sc Psychiatric Nursing: There are 12 seats in this program. The applicants should be registered with the State Nursing Council, and they should possess a minimum of one year of working experience after qualifying their degree. The time of the last date for making application will be very closely fixed with the beginning of the academic year.

MD Psychiatry: This program has: 11 seats; admissions by this quota will be conducted using NEET-PG. Candidates must qualify in the NEET-PG exam and also attend the counselling process conducted by NMC-MCC.

M.Phil Clinical Psychology: This program has 8 seats. But usually, applicants are expected to have a master's degree in psychology or subject areas aligned with it, specific admission details are diffuse.

M.Phil Psychiatric Social Work: 8 seats are here offered in this program, which mostly requires a master's degree in social work, specializing in mental health or a related area.

M.Sc Medical Microbiology: This program offers 5 candidate spaces. Interested and eligible candidates should have a bachelor's degree in a relevant field of sciences or gained medicine for admission.

Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing: A program with 30 seats requires applicants to be registered with the State Nursing Council and must be Government candidates from North Eastern states. One year of experience as a Staff Nurse is mandatory.

Ph.D Programs: LGBRIMH has a Ph.D. program in Clinical Psychology, Psychiatric Nursing, and Psychiatric Social Work, which requires at least a master's degree or an M.Phil degree in the relevant areas.

Post-Doctoral Programs: The institute runs specialized post-doctoral fellowships in Geriatric Mental Health, Addiction Medicine, and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, with each having 2 seats.
