Maharajah's Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS), Nellimarla, is a reputed medical college that was founded in 2003 and is affiliated to Dr. YSR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada, and recognised by the National Medical Commission (NMC). The Institute offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in medicine and allied sciences. MIMS Nellimarla admission is highly competitive and based on national-level entrance exams. For undergraduate programs, admission is done by way of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) and for postgraduate programs, admission is done via the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Post Graduate (NEET-PG).
NEET-UG application usually starts in the month of February and ends in March. The exam is usually conducted in May and results are announced in June. NEET-PG applications start generally in January and the exam is conducted in March and the results are declared in April. Eligibility for MBBS admission includes a pass in 10+2 with the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. In addition, the candidate must fulfill the minimum age and have scored NEET-UG above the cutoff. For postgraduate admission, applicants are expected to have done an MBBS from any recognized university and passed NEET-PG with a valid score.

Degree wise Admission Process
MBBS: MIMS Nellimarla has 200 seats for the MBBS degree. For this, applicants are selected on the basis of NEET-UG scores. The counseling method is carried out by the state authorities, where candidates are assigned seats as per merit and their preference.
MD/MS Programs: The institute nurtures obviously another list of postgraduate programs including MD General Medicine (26 seats), MS General Surgery (26 seats), MD Paediatrics (16 seats), MS Orthopaedics (16 seats), MS Obstetrics and Gynaecology (16 seats), and various others. Admission to these programs is based on NEET-PG with subsequent counseling.
MD Radiodiagnosis: It has 15 seats and admissions are based on NEET-PG marks followed by counseling.
MD Dermatology and Venereology: This specialty has 10 seats and is NEET-PG based for admission.
Other Specializations: MIMS Nellimarla offers other MD and MS programs with seats constituting lesser numbers, such as E.N.T (6 seats), Ophthalmology (6 seats), Pulmonary Medicine (5 seats), Anaesthesiology (4 seats), and others. All of the programs listed do NEET-PG as a qualification for admission.
