About Mahatma Gandhi College of Law, Gwalior

MGCL, or Mahatma Gandhi College of Law, came into existence in the year 1999, is situated at Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh and is regarded as one among the best law schools in the country. This affiliated college gives Bar Council of India (BCI) approval and has been educating legal professions for more than two decades. Located at Cancer Hills Road, MGCL is a law institution for intending lawyers with various programs in law. The institute enrols 387 students now and the faculty of the institute includes 8 committed teachers. As for now, the Institute offers three regular five-year programmes: LLB, BA-LLB Integrated, along with LLM course to meet the various segments of legal education and/or specialisation.

The college has the following facilities as learning amenities to support the learning process of a student. With regards to library and information service, the library boasts of boasting an up-to-date collection of references, text books, local and international journals, and periodicals in fields of law and related disciplines. The college is also in the process of soon putting up a full-fledged digital information library that will enable the student get acquainted with legal technological information. Sports lovers taking part in accident investigation course will also find the gym provided for physical fitness at MGCL enjoyable. The institute understands the necessity of sports in student’s personality development and has a sports complex with facilities of tennis, basketball, cricket, etc. To encourage the students to participate in the multiple inter-college tournaments, a healthy competition is encouraged.

At present, MGCL has only three courses, which are all daytime ones and taught full time. The aggregate student enrolment for the institute’s courses stands at 340. The program in BA LLB Integrated is a five-year course and the College has 120 seats. The programme mentioned above, which is a three-year LLB programme, has the maximum number of seats, that is 180. For those wishing to continue their studies in law, there are 40 places in a two-year LLM programme. These courses are orchestrated to offer coverage from basic law education to the advanced post graduate level, depending on the career interests of the students within the progressive field of law.
