Mahendra Institute of Management and Technical Studies, Khurda Admission Process

Mahendra Institute of Management and Technical Studies (MIMTS), Khurda, is a college having an affiliation authority from AICTE, a national-level apex body in Technical Education. In general, the institute offers a variety of programs in management, commerce, arts, and sciences. MIMTS adopts a comprehensive admission system for equitably selecting worthy candidates for various undergraduate and graduate programs.

Normally, admission at MIMTS takes place from the months ahead of the start of the academic year in August-September. The institute accepts applications for different programs on the basis of various national-level entrance examinations, depending on the course applied for. For management programs, such as PGDM, the institute allots admission on the basis of commonly held entrance examination results like the CAT, CMAT, XAT, MAT, and ATMA.

The eligibility varies with the different programs. For undergraduate courses, candidates are required to have passed their 10+2 education from a recognized board. While seeking admission to the postgraduate courses, candidates need to possess a graduation degree in the subjects/fields of the concerned discipline from a recognized university. The various programs may have their own specific requirements in terms of marks.

Application Process

The application process for MIMTS varies from program to program.

For the PGDM:

1. Appear in the national-level entrance exams such as CAT, CMAT, XAT, MAT, or ATMA.
2. Apply to MIMTS based on the scores of the respective examinations.
3. Group Discussion and Personal Interview for shortlisted candidates.
4. Final selection will be on the basis of the total performance in entrance exams, GDs, and PIs.

For BBA and other Undergraduate Programs:

1. Acquire the application form from the institute or download it from the official website.
2. Fill up the application form with correct details.
3. Submit the completed form along with relevant documents and fee for application.
4. Selection is based on merit in qualifying examinations (10+2 results).

For Postgraduate Programs (M.Com, MA):

1. Apply to MIMTS after completing a bachelor's degree.
2. Participate in the institute's written entrance examination.
3. Selected candidates undergo Group Discussion and Personal Interview.
4. Final selection based on a composite score of academic performance, entrance examination, GDs, and PIs.

Degree Wise Admission Process

PGDM: The selection for the PGDM program at MIMTS occurs based on the candidate's performance in national-level entrance examinations such as CAT, CMAT, XAT, MAT, or ATMA; those shortlisted from among these indicated are called to take part in the GDP and PI, and, finally, selection is based on a composite performance in all stages.

BBA: The selection process for the Bachelor of Business Administration program is largely dependent on the merit list of candidates prepared on the basis of the candidates' performance in their 10+2 examinations.

M.Com Finance and Control: For the M.Com, admission is a multi-stage process. Candidates are evaluated on their performance in the undergraduate examination, a written test conducted by the institute, a GD, and their interview in front of a panel. The distribution of marks is 100 for academic records, and 50 each for the written test, GD, and panel interview.

MA Personnel Management and Industrial Relations: The admission process for this program is similar to that of the M.Com; candidates are evaluated based on performance at the undergraduate level, on a written entrance exam, in GDs, and in panel interviews. Weightage remains the same as the M.Com program.

B.Com Hons and B.Sc Programs: Admissions to undergraduate programs are done according to the Directorate of Higher Education (DHE), Government of Odisha, through the Student Academic Management System (SAMS).

The documents needed generally are:

  • Completed application form
  • Passport size photographs
  • Mark sheets and certificates from the 10th, 12th, and graduation (as applicable)
  • Entrance exam score card (for programs requiring entrance exams)
  • Identity proof
  • Address proof
  • Category certificate (if applicable)
