Mallareddy college has been opened in the year 2012. Since then the college has been functional and is being operational and available to all the patients and students. My college does have all the needed infrastructure and facilities like classrooms and boards and computers and laboratories and washrooms and canteens and library. But infrastructure is not in the great shape, like few of the chairs date back to old times and are broken are needs to be replaced. Even few of the lights and the specimen models are old and needs to be upgraded. New models are to be added. Classrooms in mallareddy have both digital facilities as well as black boards. And laboratories are well equipped with all the necessary equipment’s and tools and chemicals. We do have a football court and a basketball court in mallareddy along with indoor sports section. The libraries in mallareddy, have a digital reading room with e-books provided and even a common reading room is available and silence is maintained most of the time. But maintenance is poor as sometimes water keeps leaking from the roof in the common reading areas. Hostels are also maintained okay, but require few changes like painting of the walls and new beds and chairs. Construction of more washrooms is needed as that is the problem here. So here the infrastructure and facilities have to be maintained regularly and need to be replaced whenever needed.
Here in mallareddy i am pursuing MBBS at ug level. N the reason I am dng it from here is bcoz mainly it is in my hometown. N since my neet exam results made it easy for me to get a seat here in mallareddy, I have joined here. The quality of teaching here is pretty good, few of the professors make use of the black board to teach where as others use a digital method and a ppt for teaching the students. All the professors here are highly qualified and skilled in their own fields and they go an extra mile when it comes to teaching us. They go through various standard books and articles and websites and then prepare notes of their own which is understandable to every student. The curriculum is updated every year and that includes addition of few new chapters and removal of few chapters that are not required and even the recent developments taking place in that particular field are bng added to the curriculum every year. But my study doesn’t make my job ready, it is my own efforts and me writing various exams is what gives me a job. I agree and appreciate the need of professors who helped me all through but my efforts in understanding the subject n implementing it in real life and attending various exams might make me eligible to get a job.
To be honest I have no idea about the placements or salaries bng offered to the students. Because after completion of ug, and doing internship for a year, then starts the pg preparation. So during this time, all the students get separated to have their own pg preparation and like in my college many students are from different places/states. So even few of them get placements in different states. Hence I don’t have much idea about the placements or the salaries bng offered to them.
My course has costed me around 20lakhs per year making it 1 crore for 5 years. But again the cost of the course depends on the category of the seat. For various categories the courses the cost differs. But since my college is on the private side, the cost of courses here is on a higher side compared to other colleges. I have mixed thoughts when it comes to saying that am I getting my moneys worth because, here we need to work on our own as well and not just be dependent on the teachers or staff alone. N even the interaction with patients that is necessary for a doctor, is being lacked here. And even our patient exposure has decreased after covid. I feel government colleges have more benefits and more huge patient exposure compared to private colleges a And stipend here is a issue, so I feel for the cost of money we r paying and the amount of work we do as an intern here, is not worth the money they give as stipend.
College campus life has its own pros and cons, depending on the circle of the friends you make here. If you have a good circle then, college life is fun, and u can indulge in activities like cultural ones and even sports. U can form a team from your college and participate in inter college competitions. I wouldn’t say worst but another thing about my college is that along with mine we have 3 other colleges too in the campus, so yeah it is always like a competition between the colleges when some Fest or any other inter college competitions take place. The students and teachers can be either supportive or might show favourism, again behind on the people you choose. But most of them can be supportive in your studies and help you become a better version of yourself and become a better doctor with some empathy and compassion for others. Location of the college, is Suraram, Medchal. The campus is pretty big enough and is fully guarded with security all the time. Nearby not just mallareddy hospital but several other hospitals are there to handle any sudden emergencies.
