Hey lara!

Both the colleges that you have mentioned are equally good. If one is good in some point ,then the other is good in some other point. RG KAR medical college is better in terms of ranking and ratings . It is ranked 68th amongst the medical colleges of india. And in campus size and infrastructure , Sri venkateshwara medical college is better  . Fees of both the colleges are mostly same i.e. approx  50k.

The following links can help you :

So , you can go for any of these two colleges.

Best wishes!

Hey Achinta !
If we include all the aspects of education required to pull off a quality academia, then it's a must that we analyse all the colleges.
IPGMER is definitely a great college but people prefer this one during their PG, not UG.
For UG, personally it's not matter of the ranking that people of West Bengal follow but yeah, I can assure you that Medical College Kolkata would be quite good.
The patient footfall in MCK is absolutely huge buddy, there won't be any short of Clinical Knowledge. It is a 185 years old Institute, does have a lot of heritage.
Next to that, I being a student of NRS would definitely prefer others to take up NRS too, not only because of it's vase college area and massive educational aspect, but if you look at it's position, Sealdah being a hub of huge population most of the patients finding their gate to NRS. I myself daily see a huge load of patients entering the college standing in front of NRS OPD and Emergency. So, yeah, its definitely good.

Hope this helps.

Good Luck !

Hii Ritu ,

Coming to your question I would like to tell you that Sagar Dutta medical college Kolkata is best among all then the rank of pmch and then at last the igims I will put as the three college list as given by you.

Sagar Dutta medical college is best over pmch as it is located in Kolkata which is much developed more than the Patna and their you will get more competition as 250 seats are their but in pmch ,Patna their are more seats and the quality of professor's are also good as most of them are author , in the Sagar Dutta medical college ,Kolkata

So I would suggest you for

  • Sagar Dutta medical college
  • Pmch ,Patna
  • Igims ,Patna

Hope this helps you if you still had a doubt fee free to ask

Good luck.

Hey,
See,the cutoff changes every year depending upon the number of candidates appearing for the examination, the category of the candidates and the difficulty level of the examination.
If we consider previous year cutoff, you can surely get a government Medical College under State Quota as well as All India Quota. You are eligible for colleges in Kolkata like Medical Colleges Kolkata,Institute of postgraduate Medical Education and Research,Kolkata.
I am providing below the link to the article of previous year cutoff of NEET in West Bengal:

I am also providing below the link of NEET College Predictor that will help you know about your chances in any Medical College in a more specified way:

Hi arghya

Sometimes excellent Colleges produce mediocre doctors and even mediocre colleges produce excellent doctors..so its up to you.

AIIMS is a better option anyday. It needs no introduction and its tag will certainly help you in your future. It is a central institute and won't impose a bond unlike medical College for which you have to sign a bond worth 1lakh to WBMCC. Any interested student can learn and research themselves with the research labs in AIIMS. They can attend the clinical grand rounds and combined clinical rounds regularly at AIIMS.

Students get opportunity and guidance from the AIIMS alumni both nationally and globally, if they choose to approach them.

Experts in their respective departments are very organised and take a serious interest in teaching. Most clinical lectures are taken by faculties from super-specialities. The amalgamation of the top books and research in the field.

Hope this information helps.

Good luck!

Hello aspirant,

I'm sorry to inform you that you have very low probabilities for the Medical College, Kolkata, since in 2018 it's cut off rank was 5214 for the General Category.

However, you have good chances for various equally good colleges like Nil Ratan Sircar Medical College and Hospital and the Calcutta National Medical College and Hospital.

All the best!

Hi Dipti

I am pretty sure that you will grab a seat in medical college kolkata. That cutoff marks usually varies from 540-600. So it is an easy chance for you to grab a seat for MBBS in medical college Kolkata. Wait for the counselling.

All the best

Thank you

Hi Ramesh,

I am here to answer your query. You didn't mention your category in question So I give an overview of all categories but next time please make sure you provide all necessary details in the query itself. Based on the 2018 cutoff, If you belong to OBC/SC/ST then for 7600 rank you have pretty good chances to get a seat in NRS/RG Kar/IPGMER colleges under AIQ as well as SQ. But if you belong to General category then it is quite difficult for your rank to get a seat in above-mentioned college because the 2018 cutoff rank for General category is as follows

                                                NRS Medical College        -       5728

                                                  RG Kar                             -       6171

                                               IPGMER                          -        3084

But remember cutoff varies every year based on several factors like no.of students appeared, etc. So don't lose hope.

All the best.

Thank you.

Hello dear candidate.

Yes, you can definitely switch from All India merit Quota list to the state India merit Quota list, even after getting allotment in any college.

However,  this would mean that you aren't interested in taking admission in that particular college and hence you loose your seat.
