Guru Mehar Chand College of Education, Ropar District, Anandpur Sahib, Punjab, was established in 2005 This college is famous teacher training institute situated at Bhanopli Tehsil, Anandpur Sahib, Ropar. This college for both genders is an affiliated type college recognised by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). The college has 489 students in enrolment and faculty strength of 13 teachers, and the college provides two-degree programmes in education. It holds itself as a haven for iguruing future educators with a detailed course offering and state-of-the art infrastructure.

The college prides itself on having a range of facilities that help in the improvement of learning environment as provided to the students. There are more than 2939 non-fiction titles, including 39 educational encyclopaedias and 116 dictionaries, in addition to journals and magazines in the Capt. Vikram Batra (PVC) Library. It can comfortably host at least one hundred students at any one time and compendium of internet facilities. Football, volleyball, kabaddi, kho-kho, and badminton facilities are also available at the campus sports outfield and indoor gymnasium, respectively. The college also boasts of a polished computer laboratory with thirty-five terminals and internet connection to enable the learners to keep abreast with modern technological developments in learning.

While joining Mehar Chand College of Education to become fruitful educators, the students are backed with numerous facilities, such as gym, cheaper facilities, etc. From personal experience and from all the aspects tackled, I am convinced that graduating from college prepares you for the task of the contemporary educational process. MCE, Ropar today stands a great point of imparting comprehensive programmes that are all-pervasive and vital in determining the future of education in Punjab and other regions.

Mehar Chand College of Education offers two full-time courses: The university offers a Bachelors of Education Programme (B. Ed.), a two-year course and a Diploma of Elementary Education Programme (D. El. Ed.), also a two-year course. These programmes offer students with the ability to have successful teaching careers at various levels of learning. The fee structure of B.Ed. programme is ₹98, 000/- and the fee structure of D.El.Ed. programme is ₹ 80, 000/ -. According to the description of both courses, their purpose is to give students the perspective incorporating both the theoretical background and the hands-on skills of the professional teacher of the present.

The admission procedure at Mehar Chand College of Education remotely follows the guideline of Department of Higher Education, Government of Punjab, following B.ED. programme and State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) Punjab for D.EL.ED. programme. All these authorities notify students on their various admission processes and deadlines and therefore any prospective student should ensure that he/she gets these notifications. The quality education the college has been offering is evident from the college facilities, like a multipurpose 500-person auditorium, well-equipped science lab and a sick bay that is essential for student’s health.
