About Mina Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women, Miryalguda

MIETW: Mina Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women set up in 2008 at Miryalguda, Telangana. This women only college is located on a sprawling 6.12 acres of land area is affiliated college, under the approval of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). MIETW has 4 degrees which include 11 courses of engineering, technology, and management. The intake capacity of the institute is 280 students and it is having a faculty of 92, which gurantees an appropriate atmosphere for learning. The college has displayed a clear vision of technical education by offering several B.Tech courses, Diploma programme, MBA and M.Tech programme respectively.

The following are some of the facilities at Mina Institute of Engineering and Technology that are meant to help foster the students learning process. A need in literature is the college library, an essential source of academic information, with the capacity of over 3,300 titles comprising of 14,700 volumes and with facilities in various varieties of electronic databases as well as journals. The campus facilities include accurate laboratories which include 3 computer laboratories and 43 engineering laboratories to foster practical learning. In as far as physical health is concerned, MIETW has provisions for sporting activities with open space, playground for the different games, a-gym and sporting competitions. Also, it has wellness features such as a canteen, medical facilities and transport services which make students to feel comfortable. Of special mention is the girls’ hostel to house up to 200 students, with security, medical checkups and healthy meals all round the clock.

Institutes are offering a large number of courses which are related to different areas of engineering and management. MIETW offers 11 courses across its academic department including full time B.Tech, Diploma, MBA and M.Tech programmes. The B.Tech programmes offered include Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Data Science. For the diploma seekers, Computer Science, Electrical & Electronics and Electronics & Communication Engineering courses are available. The institute also provides post graduation courses such as MBA, M.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering and VLS Institute System Design. According to this revised course structure, MIETW offers a total approved intake of 708 coarse seats for young and talented female engineers as well as managers.

Admission in MIETW is very much competitive and gives major focus on merit base but also follows a wider admission process. The institute also accepts scores of many state level entrance examinations so that no unfairness is involved in the selection procedure. For B.Tech programmes, admissions were done through the criteria called TS EAMCET, which stands for Telangana State Engineering Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test. The diploma courses will be basing their admission on the Telangana State Polytechnic Common Entrance Test ( TS POLYCET). Candidate aspiring to get an MBA have to write TSICET and for M.Tech admissions have to write TS PGECET. All these differentiated entrance channels are pointers that MIETW wants to see students who are intelligent and from different quarters. Although the details about scholarship provided at the institute has not been disclosed, but effort to encourage women education hints at a likely conducive ground for female student seeking technical education.
