The college has a poor boys' home which was the earlier namthe institu hat came into existence in the year 1930. This home was placed in a few rooms constructed behind the national high school. Prof. Gopalaswamy Iyengar took the sole responsibility to manage the hostel, Visionary and educationist Dr. H Narasimhaiah took abode as a border and successfully completed his early education. Later on, he rose to many heights both in academics and administration. He was the principal of the college until he became the vice-chancellor of the prestigious Bangalore University.
