Since this college is a government college so the infrastructure is very poor.Although new buildings are being made continuously by the government but still there are many old buildings which are deteriorating day by day.
Teachers takes exams regularly. They seems enthusiastic.wards are taken on a regular basis.there are regular flow of Patients, and a lot of cases can be found in the wards.Teachers are very cooperative and solve doubts whenever asked.
Since you will be doctor so this is funny that I have to talk about placement.the doctor:patient ratio in india is 1000:1 so everyone gets a job easily, However pay scale may differ. After 4.5 years of MBBS there is a compulsory internship which is paid .
Hostel fee is 144rs for a year so value for money is really outstanding.Semester fee is 4.5 K so the value for money is really nice.Fascilities are very good in the college, the labs are well equipped and maintained.
campus Life is happening, there are lot of extracurricular activities happening throughout the year.seniors are very friendly and supportive.Batchmates are very friendly and helps a lot.College fests are amazing.
Overall the college is good.its near Sealdah station and bus stand.the area is well known and every mode of transport available. The college is famous in West Bengal and has a overall nice ranking nation wide.
I have given 4 stars because I feel that my college can do much better in terms of infrastructure. Most the buildings built my the British are in good state except few. But I can surely say that other than the negatives my college also has a brighter side with I am sure you can appreciate it after you select this college for MBBS.
My college is outstanding and strict regarding academics. Takes regular exams and clinical practice sessions. Professors are also very kind and helpful always ready to share their valuable knowledge. Seniors are also helpful in terms of study.
My college provides the best placements. 1 year intership provides avarage package of 30k per month. And it increases to 35k in your house staff. But the state government provides an average increment of 3k every year.
Studing in the government medical Colleges is the most affordable form of education one can imagine. Form 4.5k per semester to Rs.12 hostel fees it make the medical education very very economical. So get admitted in our college without a second thought.
The campus life is very fun. Freshers, fest, sports events are few to name. The hostel Life is also fun with fun loving seniors. In hostel there is always events every month which I am sure will make you MBBS life in NRS very memorable.
As a government medical college, it has got all the necessary infrastructure but most of the labs are not very well maintained. The auditoriums has proper air conditioning. There are badminton courts and basic gym in the hostel. The college provides tons of mess and canteen option so one can avail it as per his choice. Wi-Fi and smart boards are present but not in much use due to technical problems.
The college provides lots of opportunities for case study due to the huge patient load. Most of the teachers are helpful and conduct regular items and vivas for evaluation. However, in field experience is lacking untill you reach internship period.
Government medical College provides 100 percent placement in the compulsory internship with a stipend amount of around 30k. The college has a good reputation and can help you seek a job in most of the hospitals in West Bengal.
Our fees are very minimal compared to other colleges with only 4500 per semester fees. So I would say it's a huge return for money because once you pass out you can easily earn 50k per month .
Since the hostel and college is within the hospital campus, there can be a lot of restrictions but it provides a wholesome experience. There are fests, freshers ,sports tournaments and other competitions to help you socialize. The location is great with all the major destinations in the city easily accessible. Being a medical college, it can easily handle any medical emergencies. There are tons of scholarship also for financial support.
Our college being one of the oldest medical college boasts to have a large campus area. As far as the classrooms and libraries are concerned, they are well up to the mark, properly lit, air conditioned and ample benches for a lot of students to accommodate. The hostels, being a bit old seem to be in a tad dilapidated state. The laboratories are fully functional with all modern and updated instruments. The mess food isn't quite up to the mark, but hygiene is well appreciated.
The college mainly provides degree for the UG and PG in medical field i.e., MBBS and MD/MS. Currently, I am doing my MBBS and I must say, the education quality is quite top notch. All the faculties teaching in here are well versed in their field and their caliber of teaching turns out to be quite fruitful. The curriculum does include all the recent developments in the field of medical science, and the clinical exposure we get through different wards makes us ready for the future job prospects.
The placements in here aren't like what we have in usual colleges. After completing the the MBBS degree, most of the students prepare for the PG exams. While some do apply for the post of junior doctors in different medical setups. The mandatory internship of 1 year provides the students with around Rs. 23k per month and the optional House-staffship generally offers around Rs. 35k. The college is quite supportive in this matter and provides options to hone our skills.
Since the college is one funded by the Government of West Bengal, I must say, the fees is quite affordable. There are 9 semesters and the fee for each semester is Rs. 4.5k with an additional registration fee of Rs. 2k for the Professional Exams of each year. The hostel charges are a meager Rs. 12 per month. Overall, the fees is quite less and I certainly feel that I am getting a lot more than my money's worth.
The college is located in the heart of Kolkata, near the bustling railway station of Sealdah hence it can always handle emergencies of different patients from all over. The teachers and the support staff are always ready to help each other out in their times of need. There are a lot many campus events held time and again for the extra curricular development of students. The annual fest, Ecstasy is one such example.
I have completed 2 years of stay in this college and I already feel like its my home. The education we aspire does fulfill our needs of being a doctor. We get to interact with the patients and learn different aspects of their life which actually is quite important in the process of being a doctor. The only negative point being, we are always exposed to the wrath of the patient when our service doesn't match their desires.
Hello,
You haven't mentioned your category, hence I'm assuming it to be general.
If we go through last year state cut-offs for UR, then the closing rank to secure GMC was 36907 for Coochbehar Government Medical College and Hospital, hence chances for GMC is tough, though there are possibilities for government seats in private medical colleges:-
Apart from this, you also hold good chances for BDS through state quota in
however, this is completely based on previous year data, cut-offs are subjected to alter every year based on various factors such as
total number of candidates appearing for the exam
