Pankajakasthuri Ayurveda Medical College (PAMC) was established in the year 2002 and is one of the premier institutions imparting education in Ayurveda situated at Kattakada, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Located on a vast area of 15.74 acres of lush green campus, this is a co-educational Ayurvedic college offering diverse courses to the medical aspirants. PAMC is self-financed and an affiliated college coming under the Central Council for Indian Medicine (CCIM), which guarantees quality education in Ayurveda, an Indian system of medicine. Presently, it has a student enrolment of 312 in total and a facility of 40 to facilitate proper learning and research in the field of Ayurveda.
The college has many facilities, which are the college’s facility to accommodate the college's contemporary activities. Students are drawn to well-equipped laboratories that enhance practical learning and research work. The college library is stocked with over 10,000 books, of which 3000 are journals and 2500 are modern publications—an encouraging source for researching. The direct internet connectivity further adds to the library, which is digitalized for the students’ benefit. For the overall development of the students, there is a provision of sports and many other clubs in the PAMC premises so that students must participate in co-curricular activities. The campus also has hostels, which are being offered for boys and girls, which makes accommodation for outstation students comfortable.
Thus, to meet the needs of undergraduate and postgraduate levels, PAMC has various courses in Ayurvedic science. It offers four full-time courses for students, which offer the basic BAMS degree and three MS, and 2 MD postgraduate programmes. Thus, the available number of seats is 72 across all the programmes through which PAMC makes it possible to provide attention as well as quality education to each learner. Since 2004, BAMS has become the flagship program of the college, admitting 60 students, while postgraduate courses in Kayachikitsa, Salyatantra, and Ayurveda Samhita and Siddhanta can only accommodate 4 students each as the college aims at providing specialization in these fields of Ayurveda.
All the courses in Pankajakasthuri Ayurveda Medical College follow merit very strictly and the admission process is systematic. So for BAMS first, the candidate has to clear the NEET or Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical (KEAM) examination to be able to get into the program. Postgraduate admissions are centralized through the All India AYUSH Postgraduate Entrance Test (AIAPGET). These entrance examinations guarantee that the college enrolls students with an apt background in sciences and a passion for Ayurveda.
